NHL Playoffs: Pack your bags, Gloria

  • Brent Burns is an incredible defender, but this series belonged to Colton Parayko. He almost single-handedly neutralized the Sharks' rush. He owns the neutral zone. Owns it. A guy that big shouldn't be that agile. And he can score.
  • The Blues return to the Cup Finals for the first time since 1970. Radio station Y-98 will be playing another 24 hours of Laura Branigan's Gloria after this series win. And they're hoping they get to do it again in June. #earworm

  • The Sharks were toothless. No Erik Karlsson. No Tomas Hertl. No Joe Pavelski. I think I saw a shark tooth necklace hanging around the neck of Jordan Binnington.
  • Admittedly, I feel bad for Joe Thornton, who turns 40 in July. He might be done. Great guy, no Cup. Jumbo is still a Hall-of-Famer.
  • Jumbo Joe is out, so maybe it's 35-year-old Jay Bouwmeester's time. Not much of a personality, but an important veteran presence for sure.
  • The Bruins will have had 10 days off by the time Game 1 starts Monday. Rest or rust? Hmmm...
  • Erik Karlsson -- does anyone pay him his $11 mil now? Someone might, but they shouldn't. His passing is still elite, but his trademark wheels are wobbly.
