Box Score Breakdown -- Saturday, October 11th

I'm back! After J.J. Calle took the reigns for Friday's Box Score Breakdown, it is now my duty to peruse all of what happened on Saturday night with an eye toward all the drafts that will be coming up very, very soon. The season draws closer, the excitement levels rise, the countdown is on!

STOCK RISING

Jared Sullinger -- The Boston big man is looking much improved this season and put in another impressive performance against the Knicks on Saturday. He poured in 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt), grabbed seven rebounds, had three assists and one steal in 26 minutes, bringing his preseason averages to 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 1.8 three-pointers on 52 percent shooting from the field and 56 percent from the line, which is below his career average of 77 percent. He should comfortably exceed his Yahoo ADP (average draft position) of 129 this season.

STOCK FALLING

Bradley Beal -- Injured again! Beal fractured the scaphoid bone in his left hand Friday and is slated to miss six to eight weeks. We'll know more about the timetable after his surgery Monday, but for now, it's a brutal blow for Wizards' fans and fantasy owners a like. It's getting very close to being able to label Beal as injury prone. If you have already drafted Beal, there's not much you can do, as if you try to trade now, you won't get the appropriate value, but, if your draft is on the horizon, I'd knock him down maybe a couple of rounds. With Martell Webster out with a lingering back issue, Otto Porter Jr. and Glen Rice Jr. could get more minutes and it'll be intriguing to see what happens in the next preseason game.

TRACKING POSITION BATTLES

Celtics' small forward -- Evan Turner has started all four Boston preseason games at the three, with Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley in the backcourt, and he's looked a lot better than what he did in Indiana. Gerald Wallace has been buried in the rotation, even sitting out Saturday's tilt and Jeff Green is still battling a calf problem and is not due back until next week. Turner scored 11 points (1-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-10 FT), four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 23 minutes and now looks like a valuable fantasy player at the end of drafts. Wallace? Not so much.

Knicks' shooting guard -- In his first game of the preseason, Iman Shumpert jumped straight into the starting shooting guard slot, shifting J.R. Smith back to the bench. Throw in the stellar play of Tim Hardaway Jr. so far in the preseason, and the two is shaping up as a fantasy headache. Still, for fantasy leagues, Smith is the guy to own, but his minutes may be effected when coach Derek Fisher wants more defense from Shumpert. Shumpert, for what it's worth, is hard to own in standard leagues and had six points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two assists, and one steal in 15 minutes.

Bucks rotation -- Again, the Bucks went with a completely different starting five, including giving Ersan Ilyasova his first action of the preseason. Coach Jason Kidd is once again proving to be a headache for fantasy owners and it feels like we won't have a concrete idea of the rotation until at least a few weeks into the season. Fringe Bucks' players could be boom or bust propositions depending on which way the wind blows in Kidd's office.

Heat point guard -- Norris Cole has started the last two games at point guard for the Heat and with Mario Chalmers leaving Saturday's game with a hip injury, has a real chance to solidify himself as the starter. Cole was not impressive though, scoring just six points (2-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt) with two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 22 minutes, while Chalmers had three points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, one assist, and two steals in 11 minutes. Rookie Shabazz Napier dropped 16 points (4-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 6-6 FT) with three rebounds, seven assists, and two steals and this has the look of a potential time share.

STRANGE STAT LINES

It's the preseason, so there are a ton of lines that don't always add up, but here, I'll touch on a few that stood out on Saturday.

Joe Harris -- The second round rookie took full advantage of Kyrie Irving's absence to put up 11 points (3-8 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists in 24 minutes. He took all eight of his shots from deep as the Cavs drained 15 total three-pointers in the overtime victory over the Heat. Is it real or a mirage? I say MIRAGE.

Tristan Thompson -- Sticking with Cleveland, Thompson came off the bench behind Anderson Varejao and his balsa wood bones and tendons made of those rubber bands that have been left out in the sun and gone white and brittle, but looked very good in doing so. He scored 18 points (6-10 FG, 6-7 FT), grabbed nine rebounds, swiped three steals and blocked a shot in 25 minutes. In the first game against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Thompson double-doubled with 14 points and 13 rebounds in just 19 minutes and is looking like a nice, late round option. Is it real or a mirage? Sort of REALish.

FANTASY LINE OF THE NIGHT

Marc Gasol -- Gasol looked dominant, scoring 21 points (8-14 FG, 5-5 FT), and grabbing 13 rebounds, adding two assists, one steal and three blocks in 29 minutes. After disappointing owners last season, Gasol will in line for a bounce back and looks to be great value in the middle rounds.

ROOKIE OF THE NIGHT

Cleanthony Early -- The Knicks' first draft choice from the 2014 Draft, looked solid off the bench, scoring 11 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT) with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in just 16 minutes. He's a deep league option, but could play decent minutes behind Carmelo Anthony.
