Apathetic on March Madness

So, apparently Western Kentucky pulled a 12-5 upset over Illinois in the first day of the NCAA tournament.  And I couldn't care less.

I don't know what happened.  When I was little, I used to live for college basketball.  I skipped a good chunk of a junior high dance to watch Ohio State play in the sweet 16.  I would skip out of class and go to the cafeteria at my school so I could watch the afternoon games on the Channel One TV.  But now?  The TV in my work cafeteria was on the games all day, and I never once even stopped when walking past so I could watch a minute of the action.

When I was in high school, I was deadly in the bracket pools.  My parents would let me fill out their work brackets, and we were bringing in the prize every year. Now?  For the first time in years, I didn't even fill out a sheet for myself.  I intended to, but I got busy at work and I looked up and it was 12:30, too late to get one in.  And you know what?  I couldn't care less.

I have gone so all-in for the NBA in recent years that I just can't dredge up any emotion for the college March Madness.  For me, my madness comes in waiting for Kevin Garnett to get back for the Celtics.  Instead of watching the late NCAA games, I'm sitting here watching the Lakers beat the Warriors.  The Cinderella that intrigues me the most is the Miami Heat, not any 14th seeded team that I've never heard of.  I used to be able to feel the magic, but now...the only reason that I'm looking forward to the crowning of the NCAA champ is because it means that we'd be that much closer to the REAL postseason magic that starts for the professionals next month.

Am I the only one that feels this way?
