Playoff Observations -- Thursday Night

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Look what happens when two guys stop bickering about who's going to lead and just go with the flow of same-sex ballroom dancing. Andrew Ladd and Martin Havlat hadn't done diddly this series but look where we are now.
  • Is grand theft a misdemeanour? I thought Roberto Luongo was going to steal that game... but that's only if anyone but the fourth line can score. Darcy Hordichuk leads the charge? Pull-eeze.
  • From the annals of "you don't need brains to be alive" comes the latest chapter in fan-foolery. And here I thought teenagers were more tech-savvy than that. Exactly how long do you think it takes for police to get a warrant to trace your ISP and account when you make a death threat on the best player in hockey? Wait a sec -- wasn't there a whacked fan in Ohio who threatened Steve Mason in the first round? Want some advice? Get a grip, people -- it's a freaking game.
  • I always thought Dave Bolland wasn't the brightest bulb in the tanning bed but I think he's proving me wrong. Eight points in 10 games and clutch stuff at that. Smart enough to get points is smart enough for me.
  • The Ducks have to be the best eight seed I think I've ever seen.
  • So who exactly is right in the whole Phoenix Chapter 11 proceedings? Wouldn't the league be better off forcing a Chapter 7? It'd screw the creditors, the players would be dispersed through a draft and Jim Ballsilie could then buy an expansion franchise where every team gets a slice of the cashola? Napoleon would never allow it -- he needs to prove that sand and ice actually do mix.
  • Anyone play fantasy baseball? Anyone stuck with Manny Ramirez and his 50-game boo-boo like I am? Ugh.
