Stephen Strasburg signs with Washington

Stephen Strasburg has signed a 4 year, 15 million dollar contract with the Washington Nationals.

That represents the single highest contract for a player drafted in the annual first year player draft.

As of this writing, the following players remain unsigned; #11 Tyler Matzik (Colorado), #12 Aaron Crow (Kansas City), $14 Matt Purke (Texas)
#15 Alex White (Cleveland), #22 Kyle Gibson (Minnesota) and #30 Washington (Tampa.) Note: Crow was not impacted by the signing deadline and still may sign with the Royals.

This was another down to the wire, nail biting draft class. Major League executives were challenged to come up with record dollars for this draft class.

Please read my comments about the Major League first year player draft in an upcoming "From Under The Big Straw Hat" blog series. I will be making some recommendations and sharing some thoughts in that blog. I'm certainly eager to get your opinions and your thoughts. It is all about the fans and those who support baseball. Sharing feelings and thoughts gives everyone an opportunity to be heard. Congratulations to Mr. Strasburg and the other drafted players. Strasburg is going to be fun to watch. Let's enjoy it. He could be very, very special.
