NHL Playoff Hockey Observations -- Sunday and Monday

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Two words that should never be uttered together: ruptured and testicle. Godspeed, Sami Salo. Or as I heard on the radio today, Semi Salo.
  • Six games against the Pens and six goals -- Michael Cammalleri is an English god in a bilingual land.
  • Hal Gill and Jaroslav Spacek -- separated at birth, at least when it comes to dominating a little guy named Sidney.
  • The Blackhawks looked like they got stuck at 4:20 yesterday -- dopey and stoned. They won't repeat it.
  • Chris Pronger may be a complete arse but he's playing some of the best playoff hockey of his life. Maybe all it took was a little postseason action to cure the ails in the Philly dressing room.
  • What is it with the Flyers and netminders anyway? I think it's the curse of Pelle Lindbergh.
  • I looked up dichotomy on Wikipedia and I found a pic of a Boston sports fan. Yup, they booed the team off the ice Monday night but on Friday night, they helped the Bruins whup both the Red Sox and the Celtics on local TV ratings (and by a decent margin). And I thought the Leafs fans were fickle...
  • The most-famous goal in NHL hockey was scored 40 years ago today. Bobby Orr remains the best hockey player ever, at least in my eyes. And the statue -- Forever Flight -- is a beautiful tribute. But what's with the nose?
  • Shane O'Brien is one tough hombre. He's Don Cherry's kind of boy.
