NBA Training Camp Notes

First the Knicks, then the Lakers and now the Clippers have thrown their hat in the "trade for Chris Paul" sweepstakes. It's being reported that the Clippers have offered DeAndre Jordan, Eric Gordon and some picks for Paul's services. Not only would the Clippers be getting the services of arguably the best point guard in the league, in a way they'd be sticking it to their cross-town rival by acquiring him. With more teams by the day entering the picture to get CP3, the Hornets would be wise to wait, listen and deal him to the highest bidder. Getting back to DeAndre Jordan, the Clippers have offered him a $40-million dollar deal which if signed could mean Chris Kaman would be heading out of town. I personally think Kaman and a German team would be a perfect fit.

Stephen A. Smith has Tweeted that he expects Tracy McGrady to sign and play for the Hawks this season. In a limited role last season T-Mac was able to play in 72 games and had brief periods when he was a fantasy option. However, given his injury history and mileage no matter where he lands he'll have limited upside.

Rodrigue Beaubois will likely not be 100 percent to start the season. The same left foot which limited him last season required a second surgery over the summer. The good news is he's practicing and showed a lot of upside when he was healthy recording seven double-digit scoring games in February.

Ben Gordon will look to rebound from a terrible season this year. Gordon averaged a career-worst 11.2 points under old head coach John Kuester and thinks he'll thrive playing under Lawrence Frank. Given he's only 28, he's a great player to target during mid-to-late rounds of drafts if you need shooting guard help.

Samuel Dalembert looks like he'll be choosing money over a legit run at a championship, stating that Houston is in the lead to sign him. He could sign with Miami or New York, however, they wouldn't come close to being able to offer him the money Houston can. This move would also permit Luis Scola to play the four, his more natural position. A big contract would likely mean an increase in the 24.2 minutes Dalembert averaged last season which would give him the opportunity to be a nightly double-double threat who isn't terrible at the free throw line (over 72 percent each of the last three seasons).

Deron Williams has reported that he's "90 percent" sure of playing for the Nets after this season. Williams also said he'd love to play with Dwight Howard if he got his pick of any big man in the league which isn't surprising. Williams also mentioned that he like the prospects of signing Tyson Chandler or Nene Hilario as well.
