Betting Big on the Brewers

Record 14-21

Bank Account -1010

Twins at Brewers - This is the game of the day if not the weekend. Jason Marquis with his 6.68 ERA takes the hill for the Twins vs Zack Greinke and his 2.88 ERA. Greinke has not lost in 21 starts at home since joining the Brewers. Greinke has a streak of 15 straight scoreless innings. If those stats are not enough what if I told you Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez, and Corey Hart are a combined 24-66 lifetime vs Marquis? Many of you will scoff at taking such a high money line, but the numbers and gut feeling are on the same page today. Folks, we have the perfect storm here. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.

TV's Take: Brewers -220; -1.5/-105/ Bet $220 to win $100 on the Money Line AND Bet $315 to win $300 on the Run Line

Notes:

I was very tempted to take Tim Hudson at +140 over David Price today, but Price is simply too solid at home. Great example of a meaningless stat is Tim Hudson is 7-1 vs the Rays, but the loss came in his last start at Tampa which was in 2004!

Cliff Lee at -141 looks like a good wager over Josh Beckett today, but I can't pull the trigger on the Phils. Cliff Lee threw a one-hitter vs the Red Sox last year, but I fear a Josh Beckett with a chip on his shoulder just enough and I do not trust the Phils hitters.

The Rangers crushed Jordan Lyles last year in two starts as he allowed 17 hits in 13 innings. The Money Line at -1.5/+105 is a smart play actually.
