Wednesday NFL Notes

Ben Roethlisberger revealed that he has a torn rotator cuff in his right arm – Big Ben apparently suffered the injury all the way back in November, and though it's causing him discomfort, he does not anticipate it hindering him from throwing or playing during the season. Certainly one of the league's tougher quarterbacks, if Roethlisberger says he can handle the pain and play effectively, it's a safe bet to believe him. Nevertheless, with Big Ben a bit shy of 100|PERCENT| healthy entering the season and the possible consequences of Mike Wallace's contract dispute, many owners could be put off by the Steelers' passing game altogether, and that could include Antonio Brown's stock potentially dropping in drafts.

Jamaal Charles has his "mojo back" – Though Charles was held out of Tuesday night's practice to rest his knee, he returned to practice Wednesday and told the media that his legs feel fresh and rested since he's been off and rehabbing the past 10+ months. When asked if he had confidence in his knee he replied that he "has his mojo back." When pressed further about what he's been doing on the knee in practice Charles said that he's been stopping and starting when making his moves through the holes in the new zone scheme implemented by offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. All the sound bites out of Chiefs camp sound great about Charles and it may just take one or two of his trademark flashy runs to launch him back into the No. 1 running back discussion.

Dez Bryant is staying quiet and looking impressive in camp – After receiving a stern talking to from owner Jerry Jones, the mercurial wideout has appeared very focused at camp. He is not interacting with the media and is instead doing his talking on the field by imposing his will on rookie Morris Claiborne. If he can continue to practice hard without injury or off-field incidents, this could perhaps be the year Bryant's immense potential is consistently realized on Sundays.

Felix Jones passed his conditioning test on his second attempt – Jones can now participate in the Cowboys' full practice on Friday. Returning from offseason shoulder surgery, Jones may not have been able to train adequately during the spring and so it's possible he'll need a few practices to get his overall conditioning up to speed.

Laurent Robinson suffered a head injury in practice – Robinson left Wednesday's earlier practice with what was deemed a minor head injury and he was held out of the afternoon session as a precaution. The team expects to have further information on Thursday regarding their top wideout's condition.

Justin Blackmon and the Jaguars are not close to coming to terms on the first-round pick's rookie contract – Robinson has been the default top receiver in Jaguars camp because Blackmon remains the last of the first-round draft picks to sign his first NFL contract. And it sounds as if they are at an impasse over the guaranteed money that Blackmon is looking for but which the Jags are unwilling to pay, likely as a result of the young receiver's recent DUI arrest. When he eventually joins his team, the two-time Biletnikoff winner is expected to contend with Robinson to be Blaine Gabbert's favorite target.

Desmond Bishop (calf) was taken off the Non-Football Injury list – Bishop will rejoin his teammates in full practice soon and should be fine for the start of the season. When healthy he is an elite IDP option that rarely leaves the field and can add both sacks and picks to his usually big tackle totals.
