Training Camp Notes: Pumping the brakes on the Golladay express

With the majority of NFL teams having played yesterday or slated to play tomorrow, it's been a fairly day for news, so this'll be one of the lighter preseason blogs you'll be seeing from me. That said, there's always a few good nuggets to help us prepare for our fantasy drafts.

• The Kenny Golladay hype train has seen his ADP over the last few days rise to 143, but before taking the plunge on him, fantasy managers need to know that he was back running with the backups in Thursday's practice while TJ Jones rejoined the starters. Golladay may still win a high-volume role, but it's also quite possible that he plays situationally in a rotation with TJ Jones while Golden Tate and Marvin Jones are on the field when the Lions use two-WRs.
• Looking for a deep sleeper at WR in your upcoming draft? Marquise Goodwin's been the most consistent playmaker for the 49ers during training camp, and the speedster has shown more versatility than being simply a deep threat. He'll open the season as the team's No. 2 WR, and he'll have a few factors working in his favor. First, he has a coach who can create mismatches for his players, Also, Brian Hoyer may not be an elite QB, but he's plenty capable of running an offense. Finally, the 49ers will likely be throwing the ball a lot. The best news is that he's going undrafted in most leagues, and he's a reasonable dart-throw in the end game.
• Amidst whispers that Tyrod Taylor is on shaky ground to remain the Bills starting QB, head coach Sean McDermott said that he'll use Taylor as his starter in the Week 3 preseason game, making it seem logical that his grip on the job is secure for now. The bigger issue is that after dealing away Sammy Watkins, the team doesn't have much in the way of a consistent downfield threat, which hurts Taylor's ability to sling the ball deep. His recent ADP has fallen a bit to 148, and his once strong upside should be in question right now.
• If Jason Myers is a kicker you've been targeting after a solid 2016 campaign, the Jaguars brought in competition after he missed three FGs and an extra point over two preseason games. Regardless, the bigger issue is that Blake Bortles looked awful, and this offense could quickly become toxic. It might be best to find a different team to mine a kicker from.
• There's a bit of mystery in New Orleans, as Coby Fleener's missed two days of practice due to an unknown injury. Typically, that wouldn't mean much, but he was held out with an undisclosed injury earlier this month. After a disappointing start to his Saints' career last season, his absences certainly won't help him to gain the trust of Drew Brees. He's currently being drafted as a backup TE in most leagues, as his ADP is at 147.
• For those worried about the shoulder that Jay Cutler had operated on last December, the good news was that he fell on the shoulder in Thursday's game, and he said he, "didn't feel anything." He's a reasonably-priced fantasy backup, as he's being selected about 160 picks into fantasy drafts.
