DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

It's a busy Wednesday in college basketball with nine top-25 teams in action! The featured contest on DraftKings is the $15 Pull Up Jumper with a $3k top prize and an eight-game slate, and over on FanDuel we have seven games ahead of the $5.55 All American with $1,000 going to the winner. Both contests kick off at 7 p.m. EST.

Targets

Sandro Mamukelashvili, F, Seton Hall ($7,800 DK, $7,700 FD)

Mamukelashvili gets a nice discount in price after only scoring 23 combined points in his last two games, down $1,200 in price from two games ago. He's been very solid overall this season as the clear go-to-guy for Seton Hall, averaging a whopping .99 fantasy points per minute. Mamu has a high ceiling with seven 40+ point fantasy scoring nights and only needs about 30 to out-perform this salary. He should be able to reach that against a Providence team that has allowed 70+ in five of their last six and allowed him to score 20 points in their first meeting.

Cameron Thomas, G, LSU ($7,100 DK, $7,500 FD)

Although stacking isn't as essential on an eight-game slate, the highest over/under game of the day is a good place to start when filling your lineups. Despite a second-tier salary, Thomas should have a good opportunity to be one of the higher scoring fantasy players tonight. Alabama was able to keep him in check to just 21 points in their first meeting, but Thomas struggled to one of his most inefficient shooting nights of the season, and he only played 31 minutes in what ended up being a blowout.

Charles O'Bannon, F, TCU ($5,200 DK, $3,900 FD)

O'Bannon entered the starting lineup two games ago and responded with a 17-point performance on 6-of-10 shooting against Missouri last time out. It's not the first time the USC transfer has sprung to life this season, as he also scored 18 against Kansas on the strength of four threes. That's an area where Oklahoma St. has struggled to defend, allowing TCU to shoot 47 percent from deep and score 77 points in their first meeting. He's very active in the offense for someone in this price range.

Fades

Justin Champagnie, F, Pittsburgh, ($10,000 DK, $9,000 FD)

Champagnie is the most expensive player on today's slate, but I have him projected just outside my top-5 scorers. A big part of that is the matchup, as Virginia Tech is a great defensive team that hasn't allowed an opponent to score over 60 in their last four games. Champagnie hasn't been quite as involved in the offense, as Pitt likes to get Xavier Johnson and Au'Diese Toney their touches as well. I'm looking away from the Pitt offense tonight and targeting other games.

Collin Gillespie, G, Villanova ($7,400 DK, $6,800 FD)

Gillespie has been an exceptional three-point shooter for Villanova this season, but St. John's hasn't allowed more than seven threes in a game in their last six, and that's where Gillespie does a majority of his scoring. He's the third option offensively and not active on the glass or in providing additional points on the defensive end with blocks or steals, either. I'd prefer to spend slightly less on Jeremiah Robinson-Earl ($6,900 DK, $6,900 FD) who should have a better matchup in the post.

Rasheem Dunn, G, St. John's ($6,100 DK, $5,100 FD)

Dunn has been priced up from the $4k range in December up to the low $6k's on DraftKings after a couple of decent performances in routine victories. He'll get a tougher test against a top-10 Villanova team tonight, and Dunn has been inefficient. connecting on only 41 percent of his field goals this season. His ceiling is also limited having failed to record a single 30-point fantasy game this season. Nova has struggled to defend the perimeter this season, making Vince Cole ($4,900 DK, FD) a low-cost upside GPP play.
