September 22, 2022
Aimaq is expected to miss several months due to a broken foot he suffered during a workout earlier in the week, Carlos Silva Jr. of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The news of Aimaq's injury is devastating for the Red Raiders. The transfer from Utah Valley was expected to be a major contributor on both ends of the floor alongside Kevin Obanor in the frontcourt. Aimaq averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds per game a season ago while earning WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. He is expected to make a full recovery and return at some point this season. For the time being, Daniel Batcho has an opportunity to seize a prominent role, and could possibly open the season in the starting five with Aimaq set to miss time to open up the 2022-23 campaign.
