Lands at Syracuse
Starling committed to Syracuse on Tuesday, joining the program as a transfer from Notre Dame, Joe Tipton of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
One day after placing his name in the portal, Starling has quickly found a home with another program in Syracuse, which is in a bit of a transition period following the retirement of longtime head coach Jim Boeheim. The Orange will be moving on from its leading scorer in 2022-23 in Joe Girard, who has already entered the portal in pursuit of playing his fifth season of eligibility elsewhere. Starling should immediately step into Girard's starting role at shooting guard, combining with rising sophomore point guard Judah Mintz to form a dynamic backcourt tandem. As a freshman at Notre Dame this past season, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Starling averaged 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 three-pointers in 29.6 minutes per contest while shooting 42.1 percent from the field over 28 games (24 starts).
