Preseason ACC favorite Clemson limps into this Week 4 matchup against Syracuse, sitting at 1-2 SU, 0-3 ATS, and the under has hit in all three of their games. The Orange counter at 2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, and the over has gone 1-1-1 to start their campaign.

Clemson vs Syracuse Betting Odds for  Week 4

Spread: Clemson -17 (-110, FanDuel); Syracuse +17.5 (-112, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Total: over 54.5 (-108, FanDuel Sportsbook); under 54.5 (-110, BetMGM)

Moneyline: Clemson -800 (Caesars Sportsbook); Syracuse +600 (ESPN Bet)

We've seen some minor line movements throughout the week. Clemson opened at (-17.5) and it's danced down, up and now back down. It's a key number as it obviously represents a three-score victory covering versus needing more than two touchdowns and a field goal to cover. The moneyline opened at (-800), reached as high as (-900), and now has steadily come down. There's no value in Clemson winning unless you're into a large moneyline parlay situation.

The total, too, has danced but currently sits where it opened after inching up to 56.5 mid-week. It has not dropped below this number.

Clemson vs Syracuse Betting Picks for Week 4

This line, for me, is begging you to take the Orange to cover. Clemson's offense looks broken, averaging just 19.3 points, 108.3 rushing yards and 3.8 ypc, and 211.0 passing yards and a 3:3 TD:INT ratio. Having not scored more than 27 points in any game to date, how can they cover this massive number? Head coach Dabo Swinney is again bickering with the fan base, and there is a sense that there could be a real implosion.

Syracuse, meanwhile, seems like an uncertain opponent. They have a prolific passing attack, but RB Yasin Willis' availability for Saturday is uncertain, which could allow the Tigers to drop more bodies back into coverage. They're body of work is far less impressive, needing a miracle finish against Connecticut to pull off a win, hammering Colgate and getting hammered by Tennessee to open the year. But their defense is porous against questionable opponents, having allowed 4.8 ypc, 274 passing yards per game, and at least 20 points in every outing.

Clemson needs a hot start to get doubts out of their minds, and I'm banking that will happen. Syracuse wants to play fast, and given the holes in their defense, I think the Tigers will hit some big plays, so a slight lean towards the over despite the trends. But this has to be a get right spot for the Tigers to start silencing doubters.

Clemson vs Syracuse Predictions for Week 4

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik has not been the same player he was in 2024. He's completing a career-low 59.1 percent of his throws, and he's not helping the struggling rushing attack either, with 59 carries yards and a touchdown on 30 tries after 463 yards and seven touchdowns last year. But the expectation is he'll have top WR Antonio Williams back after missing two-plus games due to a hamstring injury. That should immediately elevate the Tigers' passing attack, as Williams can operate inside and outside, but pushes Bryant Wesco and T.J. Moore more to the outside to stretch the field.

I can't speak more fondly of the job I think Fran Brown is doing with the Orange. He'll have them ready to play. But it's also their first true road game of the season, and despite results, no one will argue that Clemson doesn't have the vastly superior talent. I look for their defense to slow down the Orange passing attack while not surrendering much, if anything, on the ground, and for Klubnik and this passing attack to finally find its footing.

Game Prediction: Clemson 38-17
