Nakia Watson
Running BackRB
2020 Fantasy Outlook
While Watson checked in as the primary spell back for the Badgers in 2019 behind Jonathan Taylor, it amounted to just 74 carries for 331 yards and two touchdowns. A big back at 5-foot-11, 229 pounds, Watson doesn’t possess the home run speed of Taylor and needs to work to break more arm tackles. Watson will also need to fend off attempts to take reps from him by a variety of hosts including Isaac Guerendo, Julius Davis and incoming freshman Jalen Berger. Garrett Groshek also figures to handle a chunk of snaps as the passing down back and occasional work in the run game. Read Past Outlooks
Successful opening game
October 24, 2020
Watson ran 19 times for 62 yards in Friday's 45-7 win against Illinois.
ANALYSIS
Watson's new role as lead back alongside Garrett Groshek proved to be true as the sophomore carried the ball 19 times in the blowout win. Jonathan Taylor leaves some pretty big shoes for backs Watson and Groshek to fill, but with Graham Mertz adding an intriguing passing-game element to the Badger offense, the dynamic duo could be poised for an explosive 2020 campaign.
