PICKS TO CLICK
Jordan Nwora 15+ Points (+320 bet365)
Check out these numbers: 11, seven, 10 and 17. These are the field goal attempts Nwora has recorded in his first four appearances with Red Star. He's no longer crowded for shot volume like he was with Efes, and his responsibility is to to get buckets while being surrounded by spot-up shooters and extremely unselfish teammates -- including a pass-first point guard in Codi Miller-McIntyre. You can ladder this if you'd like, but I'm just swinging for the fences with a half unit, which allows us to recover if he has a poor Round 1. In those four games mentioned previously Nwora put up at least 15 points twice.
Dzanan Musa Over 20.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-135 bet365)
The oddsmakers tried to price this one up, but I don't think it's high enough considering Musa's role and expected minutes -- which should be ample as his name is listed on the EuroLeague Daily Lineups page. We're accustomed to Musa playing in the Real Madrid system with volatile usage and playing time, and although Dubai has plenty of talent in their own right, I believe Musa will be the straw that stirs the drink for a club making its EuroLeague debut. I want to attack this number early on because I think it could be the lowest we see on Musa all season. We saw this during the previous campaign with TJ Shorts, who opened around here but saw his points+rebounds+assist number get up around 30 and stay there.
Jabari Parker Over 17.5 Points+Rebounds (-125 bet365)
It might not be wise to base a play off one exhibition game, but hear me out. This number would feel low even if Parker were still on the Barcelona roster, and now he will serve as the power forward for head coach Zeljko Obradovic, which is generally a fantasy-friendly spot. In the game I referenced Parker put up 18 points and eight rebounds against a Panathinaikos team that is stout on the defensive end. I'm not expecting Dubai to find itself among that company.
Jimmy Clark III 10+ Points (+105 bet365)
Jimmy Clark III 15+ Points (+500 bet365)
Over the offseason, Rokas Jokubaitis -- who finds himself on the EuroLeague Injury Report -- left town and Lonnie Walker IV joined the fray. I expect Walker and Clark to start, with Tamir Blatt serving as an overqualified sixth man. Clark has now been with Maccabi for seven months, and I believe he is ready to pick up the pace in the production department. Walker figures to be the top option on the offensive end, but I'm playing the matchup game, as I believe he draws coverage from Isaia Cordinier, which is not a fun matchup for any player. This should lead to more shot volume for Clark and give us the upside we need to connect on this ladder.
