2025 Fantasy Outlook
Douglas came to the Patriots in 2023 as a sixth-round pick and almost immediately earned a regular role in the slot, where his 5-foot-8, 179-pound frame wouldn't be too limiting. He's since bulked up some, now listed at 192, and seemingly without sacrificing any of his 4.44 speed, but that doesn't mean he'll ever be more than a No. 3 receiver. After drawing targets on 22.1 percent of routes as a rookie, Douglas dropped to 16.9 percent in 2024 despite being surrounded mostly by backup-quality receivers. The Patriots hope that won't be the case this year, having signed Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, but their receiving corps and offensive line still rank near the bottom of the league on paper. That's good for Douglas' chances to keep his role, and he's already more athletic than the average slot specialist, but it's tough to manage even WR3 fantasy production in such a role unless the team almost exclusively uses three-wide formations and/or has elite passing numbers overall. Neither of those outcomes seems likely under new coach Mike Vrabel, which means Douglas' statistical gains figure to be modest even if second-year QB Drake Maye proves to be a gem. Read Past Outlooks

Set to reprise role in the slot
As training camp approaches, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site views Douglas as a lock to secure a role in the team's revamped wide receiver corps.
ANALYSIS
When healthy, free agent addition Stefon Diggs (knee) is projected to emerge as the team's WR1, with Douglas set to reprise his slot role in the offense. Meanwhile, rookie third-rounder Kyle Williams and newcomer Mack Hollins are also likely see their share of snaps in 2025, with Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker and Efton Chism also in the mix for depth chart slotting. On the heels of a 2024 regular season in which he recorded 66 catches (on 87 targets) for 621 yards and three TDs in 17 games, Douglas should maintain enough volume in his third pro campaign to merit lineup consideration in deeper PPR formats, in particular if Drake Maye continues to make strides in his second year as New England's franchise QB.

2023
Douglas was one of the few bright spots on a broken Patriots offense in 2023, drawing at least five targets in every game he played from Week 7 on. He had seven games with at least 40 yards out of the 14 he played. though he topped 55 yards just twice (84, 74), mostly settling for short gains and failing to score even a single TD. Douglas played both inside and outside as a rookie last year, but at 5-8, 192, he's probably a better fit in the slot long term. As much as he looks like a gem of a sixth-round pick, his considerable role in 2023 was at least partially a product of the Patriots lacking other options. They're hoping 2024 second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk and fourth-rounder Javon Baker can take care of that, and they also brought in former Vikings No. 3 receiver K.J. Osborn and re-signed Kendrick Bourne (who is rehabbing an ACL tear). Competition for roles should be wide open under the new coaching staff, with Douglas a candidate to land anywhere between first and fifth on the depth chart.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Frustrated with role
Douglas is frustrated due to his lack of targets through two games, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Douglas had a relatively productive rookie season, particularly in the latter half of the campaign, when he topped 50 receiving yards three times in the final seven games. So far in 2024, he's earned only three targets with two catches for 12 yards across two contests. Following Sunday's overtime loss to the Seahawks, Douglas noted that he's still getting open but is not getting delivered targets. The Patriots are likely to run a conservative offense, so Douglas may find it difficult to consistently post quality stats.
