                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Kittle has aged like fine wine, with his 2,126 receiving yards over the last two seasons easily the most among tight ends. His 14 TDs in that span are third most, trailing only the 17 apiece of Sam LaPorta and Mark Andrews. While he seems to suffer multiple injuries every year, Kittle often manages to fight through them, falling shy of 14 regular-season appearances only once in eight NFL seasons. He has surpassed 1,000 yards four times, including each of the last two seasons. There is one less mouth to feed in San Francisco after WR Deebo Samuel was traded to Washington in the offseason, while RB Christian McCaffrey and WR Brandon Aiyuk are coming back from season-ending injuries. Relative to other top tight ends, Kittle relies on per-target efficiency rather than volume, having finished last season seventh at the position with 94 targets. He made up for it by ranking second among TEs (50-catch min.) in both yards before the catch (7.5) and yards after the catch (6.7), sporting a high catch rate and tons of YAC despite getting some downfield looks. Kittle's talent is the main driver of that annual efficiency, but it helps when Kyle Shanahan and QB Brock Purdy have the passing game humming in general -- and even more so when McCaffrey or one of the starting WRs is injured. Commemorates 'holiday' with TD
Kittle brought in four of five targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 26-15 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
				ANALYSIS
Kittle commemorated the National Tight End Day quasi-holiday he helped bring about by recording his second touchdown of the season on a 17-yard grab just before halftime. Kittle had been shut out altogether in his Week 7 return from a hamstring injury, so Sunday's production was a particularly welcome sight for fantasy managers and included a new season-high yardage total for the veteran tight end. Kittle draws another favorable matchup irrespective of who his quarterback is when the 49ers face the Giants on the road in Week 9.

How does the Giants pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?

The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

Kittle quietly jumped back over the 1,000-yard threshold for the first time since 2019, leading all tight ends with 1,020 receiving yards last season. He also tied for second at the position with six touchdowns, making the most of pedestrian volume. With plenty of other mouths to feed in San Francisco -- namely Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel -- Kittle had to settle for 90 targets, tied for ninth among tight ends. Kittle’s robust average of 7.5 yards after the catch coupled with Brock Purdy’s accuracy allowed the tight end to produce a career-high 11.3 yards per target, following five straight years between 8.9 and 10.1 YPT. He also tied a career high with 16 games played, a mark Kittle previously reached in only 2018. From a health and efficiency perspective, 2023 was about as good as it gets for Kittle, though there is some risk of a down year in 2024 if he suffers regression in those areas and doesn't get more targets per game to make up for it. While Kittle is recovering from offseason core muscle surgery, McCaffrey and Samuel have their own checkered injury histories and Aiyuk is embroiled in contentious extension talks. There are a few avenues that could lead Purdy to pepper Kittle with more targets, but it's also possible those lanes don't open up until next offseason.

    Returning to action Sunday
Kittle, who's been on injured reserve since injuring his hamstring in Week 1, does not carry an injury designation for Sunday night's game against the Falcons, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
				ANALYSIS
The talented tight end was a full participant in Friday's practice, allowing him to avoid the injury report entirely. Kittle's five-game absence means he's yet to play with Mac Jones as his quarterback, but that will change Sunday versus Atlanta since the latter is drawing another start in place of Brock Purdy, who'll remain sidelined due to his toe injury.
