2019 Fantasy Outlook
The 2017 fourth-rounder saw his first regular-season duty last season, but Dobbs remains entrenched as a backup for the Steelers, with Ben Roethlisberger having signed a two-year contract extension during the offseason. Dobbs enters training camp second on the team's depth chart, but for that slotting to stick, he'll have fend off second-year man Mason Rudolph. Read Past Outlooks

Traded to Jacksonville
QBJacksonville Jaguars
September 9, 2019
The Steelers traded Dobbs to the Jaguars on Monday in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The Jaguars needed to add another quarterback behind Gardner Minshew after Nick Foles suffered a broken clavicle in Sunday's season-opening loss to Kansas City. The team could've done worse than Dobbs, a 2017 fourth-round pick who lost a backup QB battle to Mason Rudolph in Pittsburgh. Dobbs has thrown seven interceptions on 140 career pass attempts in the preseason, but he also proved capable of moving the Pittsburgh offense, both with his arms and his feet. With Foles out for at least the first half of the season, Dobbs could eventually have a chance to make starts, depending on Minshew's health and performance.

This Week's Opposing Pass Defense
How does the Colts pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
Considered the possible quarterback of the future when he was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 draft, Dobbs never saw a regular-season snap for the Steelers as a rookie. Stuck behind Landry Jones, Dobbs now faces additional competition from Mason Rudolph, taken in the third round this year. It seems likely that either Dobbs or Jones will not make the roster coming out of camp this season.
The 6-3, 216 pound QB is a great athlete who also possesses tremendous smarts. As a result, Dobbs has the tools to make for an interesting developmental project behind Ben Roethlisberger. While his downfield accuracy was quite strong by the end of his Tennessee career, Dobbs never showed the natural ability to read defenses that you'd like to see in a quarterback. If his experiment at quarterback doesn't go well, Dobbs has the athleticism to transition to receiver. For now, he's slated for No. 3 QB duties in 2017 behind longtime Roethlisberger and backup Landry Jones, who has served in the Steelers' No. 2 role for each of the past two seasons and was signed to a two-year extension before the NFL draft.
