2025 Fantasy Outlook
Surtain's excellent start to his career continued in his fourth season, as the cornerback was named the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The 2021 first-rounder finished the campaign with 45 total tackles (34 solo), 11 passes defensed, including four interceptions and a touchdown. He also added one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Surtain signed a four-year, $96 million extension last September, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the league. The 25-year-old has proven to be a young defensive star in the league, and he will undoubtedly continue to develop within the Broncos defensive scheme. Read Past Outlooks

As of now, the Broncos are not planning on placing Surtain (pectoral) on the injured reserve list, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Surtain is expected to miss four to six weeks after sustaining a pectoral injury during the Broncos' Week 8 win over the Cowboys. However, it doesn't appear as if Denver will place the star corner on IR, suggesting he could return sooner rather than later. While he's likely sidelined over the next couple of weeks, 2025 first-round pick Jahdae Barron is expected to have an increased defensive role as one of the team's top cornerbacks.

2021
Surtain has had a strong start to his career with the Broncos since being selected ninth overall in the 2021 Draft, making back-to-back Pro Bowls in the last two seasons. The 24-year-old cornerback has amassed seven interceptions and 36 pass defenses in his first 50 games with Denver, cementing himself as one of the NFL's star defensive backs. The Broncos wisely picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract, securing his role with through the 2025 season. The Alabama product should continue to be a solid IDP option in his fourth season as Denver's top cover corner.
Surtain enters his third campaign after an impressive start to his young career with Denver. In 2022, the 23-year-old cornerback logged 60 tackles to go with 10 passes defended, two interceptions and one forced fumble in 17 games. As one of the league's rising stars, Surtain should continue to be a key cog in the Broncos' defensive backfield in 2023. The addition of new head coach Sean Payton should make Denver more competitive on offense. If other teams are forced to throw the ball more against Denver's defense, the 2021 first-rounder could see more opportunities to make plays this season.
After being selected ninth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Surtain had an impressive rookie season, finishing with 58 total tackles, 14 passes defended and four interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The 22-year-old cornerback will enter the 2022 campaign looking to build off his strong rookie performance and continue to be a disruptive defender for opposing offenses. Denver will likely be more competitive in 2022 with the addition of Russell Wilson at quarterback, so it is possible that teams may have to throw more against the Broncos defense. More passing could mean more opportunities for Surtain to make impact plays this season.
Selected ninth overall in this year's draft, Surtain enters his rookie season with high expectations. The highly touted Alabama cornerback steps into a defensive backfield filled with proven veterans. With the additions of Kyler Fuller and Ronald Darby this offseason, Surtain may find himself playing in slot coverage, allowing him to flash his strong footwork and technique.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fit on US Olympic team
CBDenver Broncos
May 18, 2025
Nick Shook of NFL.com believes Surtain would be a strong candidate to make Team USA if the NFL passes a resolution that allows NFL players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
ANALYSIS
Surtain was named the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year due primarily to his coverage skills. That same skill set would work just as well in flag football, where he can guard the opposition's top pass catchers in a format without offensive or defensive lines. The NFL owners are expected to vote in May on whether or not NFL players will be allowed to play flag football at the Olympics in Los Angeles.
