Johnson tore his Achilles in Week 2 of the 2024 season, preventing him from building on a Pro Bowl 2023 campaign in which he posted 7.5 sacks and seven passes defensed. The 2022 first-round pick was the Jets' best all-around edge prior to getting hurt, and Johnson should return to a starting role once healthy, though his availability for the start of the regular season is uncertain. Cleared to return in London
Johnson (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Broncos, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
				ANALYSIS
Johnson is good to go after logging a full practice Friday. His return to the field should provide a substantial boost to a Jets pass rush that has struggled since Johnson got hurt in Week 2.

This section compares his draft workout metrics with players at the same position. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that metric and it would be considered average.

Not much went right for the Jets in 2023, but the emergence of Johnson was one. After a quiet rookie season for the 2022 first-round pick, he more than doubled his defensive snap count and his production followed suit. Brought in to get after the quarterback, Johnson accomplished that goal by creating 56 total pressures (per PFF), good for a mark inside the top-25 in the league among edge rushers. Johnson also did enough as a run-stopper, tallying 20 tackles in the role. With Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers out of the picture, Johnson should have the chance to step into a leadership role along the defensive line and his production could take another jump forward in his third season as a pro.

    Popping up in trade rumors
Johnson is being pursued by teams ahead of the trade deadline, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
				ANALYSIS
Johnson has missed three games this season due to an ankle injury, though he managed to return in Week 6 against Denver. He immediately played 63 percent of defensive snaps and logged his first sack of the season, potentially solidifying himself as a trade target for contending teams. Johnson still has the fifth year of his rookie contract remaining in 2026, so it's not clear whether the Jets will seriously consider dealing him.
