2019 Fantasy Outlook
Williams is probably a sell-high in dynasty leagues after his tackle and interception production in 2018 wildly outpaced his prior career rates, but he should still pose DB2 utility even if he sees major regression in 2019. Based on his pre-2018 production, Williams projects for a 90-tackle pace, and his limitations in coverage actually proved helpful for his IDP production since quarterbacks kept sending tackle and interception opportunities his way. Williams could get replaced due to his coverage issues in the long term, but Cincinnati seems dependent on him for this season at least. Read Past Outlooks

Williams recorded 114 tackles (80 solo), one sack, three defended passes and one interception aross 16 regular-season games in 2019.
ANALYSIS
Williams played an every-down role at strong safety for the Bengals in 2019, surpassing 1,000 defensive snaps in a season for the first time in his career. He's on track to reprise a similar role for Cincinnati in the 2020 season, giving him respectable value in IDP formats.

Williams' 2017 season was marred by three different injuries, beginning with a dislocated elbow suffered in the preseason, followed by a hamstring injury and subsequent aggravation of that injury that forced him out of four games, and capped off by a back injury in the season finale against Baltimore. The Bengals' starting strong safety thus was limited to 49 tackles after tallying 81 tackles the previous year. When healthy, Williams is capable of proving 75-to-85 tackles and 3-to-5 interceptions.
After three years of grooming as a backup, Williams stepped into the starting Cincinnati safety role left open when Reggie Nelson headed to Oakland last year. Williams' final box score was nothing exceptional, but he did have 81 tackles and three interceptions on 912 defensive snaps in 15 games. He would ideally push for 1,000 snaps in a 16-game season this year, positioning him for a well-rounded stat line by season's end. The addition of rookie pass rushers Jordan Willis and Carl Lawson could afford Williams more opportunities in coverage.
Williams is the reason why Cincinnati was willing to let Reggie Nelson head to Oakland, and with the latter gone Williams should step into a three-down role. As an IDP, he's a blind swing for the fences. His exact fit isn't clear – Nelson was a centerfielder while Williams has always been known as a strong safety – and his production to this point has been lacking, with just 54 career tackles and two interceptions in three years. The ideal outcome would be George Iloka working as the centerfielder and Williams playing more of an in-the-box role.
Williams is athletic for a strong safety, especially in a straight line, but he is probably better suited to playing downhill than he is in the centerfield. He's on the IDP radar for sure, because Taylor Mays is weak competition at safety.
