2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mayfield revived his career in 2023 and then took it to another level last season. He finished QB4 in fantasy with career highs in completion percentage (71.4), passing yards (4,500) and TD passes (41), all of which ranked in the top three in the league. He did it a little differently than the previous season, though. Whereas Mayfield pushed the ball downfield under former offensive coordinator Dave Canales, last season he capitalized on OC Liam Coen's quick-passing game that created the second-most yards after catch in the league (2,447). The rhythm attack fueled Mayfield to a career-high 77.5 on-target percentage, which increased his completion percentage by seven points. While his average target depth shrank by more than a yard and a half to 6.8 (32nd), his YPA shot up to 7.9 (7th). Coen left for Jacksonville, but pass-game coordinator Josh Grizzard was promoted to continue the gameplan. The Bucs return all of their offensive starters from last year, including WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, although star left tackle Tristan Wirfs may miss the early part of the season after knee surgery in July. The team used its first-round pick on WR Emeka Egbuka, whose underneath/slot game seemingly fits well. Mayfield's TDs figure to drop, with his 37.2 percent red-zone TD rate (2nd) likely regressing closer to league average, but with a strong offensive line and running game keeping defenses off-balance, he's set up for another efficient season. ANALYSIS
Mayfield, who was limited at practice this week, is officially listed as questionable, with coach Todd Bowles having previously noted Friday that the quarterback "should be OK for Sunday." Also trending toward active status versus Philadelphia is wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle), and the duo's Week 4 status, either way, is set to be confirmed ahead of the first wave of games Sunday, with the Buccaneers kicking off at 1:00 p.m. ET.

After bouncing from Cleveland to Carolina to Los Angeles, Mayfield found a home in Tampa Bay last season, resurrecting his career with personal bests for passing yards (4,044, 9th in NFL) and TD passes (28, 7th) and leading the Buccaneers to the playoffs. While his accuracy was middle of the road (72.6 on-target percentage, 19th), Mayfield did a good job pushing the ball downfield. His average target depth was 8.5 yards, fifth in the league, as 12.0 percent of his attempts went beyond 20 yards, also fifth. His eight TD passes on deep attempts tied for second most. Offensive coordinator Dave Canales earned much of the credit for Baker's turnaround, but he's now Carolina's head coach, replaced by former Kentucky OC Liam Coen, who is expected to install a Sean McVay-derived offense (he coached under McVay with the Rams) only with perhaps more pre-snap motion. That would seem to work in favor of Mayfield, who signed a three-year deal with $50 million guaranteed in March. Wide receiver Mike Evans is also back on a new contract, and WR Chris Godwin, TE Cade Otton and RB Rachaad White (64 catches) return too. Mayfield doesn't run much, but a strong arm with 550-plus attempts was enough to make him fantasy's QB10 last year. Even if he doesn't get there this year, he's a solid option for two-QB leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be down receiver Sunday
Mayfield is facing the prospect of playing Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Jets without No. 2 receiver Emeka Egbuka, who's dealing with hip and groin injuries, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Egbuka was able to jump back into practice Friday, albeit on a limited basis, after missing the first two sessions of the week. However, head coach Todd Bowles essentially labeled Egbuka a game-time call versus New York when discussing the matter Friday, and Mayfield therefore may be operating with veteran Sterling Shepard or Ryan Miller as his No. 2 receiver Sunday if Egbuka sits.
