2023 Fantasy Outlook
Wright has made a name for himself in Detroit since going undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2021, and the blocking specialist even reached TE1 status after T.J. Hockenson was traded midway through last season. However, that deal was largely predicated on the Lions not wanting to give Hockenson a contract extension rather than finding a way to give more playing time to Wright, especially because the team turned around and spent a 2023 second-rounder on the receiving-oriented Sam LaPorta. While Wright could snag a few more TDs in short-yardage situations this season, his main responsibilities likely will involve blocking. Read Past Outlooks

Snags three passes
Wright secured three of three targets for 16 yards during Sunday's win over Carolina.
ANALYSIS
The blocking-proficient Wright has easily seen his highest snap counts of the season over the past two games with Detroit leaning heavily on the run. However, these were the first targets he has seen since Week 1, and Wright won't be needed for much more in the receiving department as long as Sam LaPorta is available to play.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Wright enters the 2022 season with a little momentum after faring well as Detroit's No. 1 tight end down the stretch of the 2021 campaign in place of T.J. Hockenson. However, there remains no guarantee that he'll command a roster spot going forward. Not only does free-agent acquisition Garrett Griffin have a history with coach Dan Campbell from their New Orleans days, the Lions also spent a fifth-round draft pick on James Mitchell. With Hockenson back to full health, Wright may need an impressive offseason to make the team unless Detroit opts to carry four tight ends on the active roster.
