Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be on the move
Dianna Russini of The Athletic believes that the Jets are active on the trade market and could look to move on from Lawson ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline.
ANALYSIS
Lawson hasn't been on the field for more than 30 percent of defensive snaps in his three games played this year and was a healthy scratch for Week 5 against the Broncos. Russini believes that Lawson's lack of playing time -- paired with the pay cut he took in May -- indicates that he could be out of New York after joining the team in 2021. Lawson had a productive season with the Jets last year, when he recorded 33 tackles and seven sacks while playing all 17 regular-season games, and he should bring value to a team that acquires him if he's able to come close to that kind of production.

2022
2021
Lawson posted seven sacks in 2022 after missing the entire 2021 campaign due to a torn Achilles. The 28-year-old defensive end is optimistic that he can hit double-digit sacks for the first time in 2023, and he's well positioned to do so as the top edge rusher in a Jets defense that has Quinnen Williams generating interior pressure, as well as the cornerback duo of Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed taking away passing lanes. Lawson will have competition for playing time from 2022 and 2023 first-round picks Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald, as well as the versatile John Franklin-Myers.
