2025 Fantasy Outlook
Winston’s 2024 is remembered more for his marveling at snow, and other colorful utterances, than anything he did on the field. He took over the starting job in Cleveland after Deshaun Watson went down Week 7, and, aside from a three-TD victory against Baltimore in his first start, it was mostly a failure. After eight picks in three games Weeks 13-15, he lost the job and didn’t play the final three games while also dealing with a shoulder injury. Winston signed in March with the Giants, who signed Russell Wilson days later and drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round. If Dart proves ready to back up Wilson, the Giants may try to trade Winston. Wherever he ultimately lands, Winston figures to only get playing time if injuries hit. Hopefully, he gets a snow game or two in New York. Read Past Outlooks

Splitting second-team reps
Winston and Jaxson Dart split second-team reps Thursday in 11-on-11s, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Reports from OTAs suggested Dart was typically the second QB through the rotation, behind starter Russell Wilson and ahead of Winston. It sounds like the second-team split was closer to 50/50 on Thursday, perhaps hinting at an even competition for the QB2 job. Winston signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Giants in late March, a few days before they signed Wilson and about five weeks before they drafted Dart. Winston's contract includes $5.25 million guaranteed, so the Giants might try to trade him if Dart looks ready to back up Wilson by Week 1.

Winston was stuck as the back up in New Orleans the last couple years, but he impressed as the starter in 2021 -- 14/3 TD/INT -- before tearing an ACL in Week 8. He could be back in a starting role this season after signing a one-year deal with the Browns in March. Deshaun Watson is recovering from shoulder surgery, and while he’s reportedly made steady progress, there’s a chance he’s not ready for Week 1. Assuming Winston beats out fellow free-agent acquisition Tyler Huntley, he’ll have a solid group of playmakers to exploit. The Browns added Jerry Jeudy this offseason to form an excellent WR trio with Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, in addition to tight end Davis Njoku and running back Nick Chubb (though Chubb is coming off a knee injury). At 30, Winston probably isn’t as mobile as he once was, but he should still add some rushing upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Has supporters for starting job
Winston is set to begin the season as the Giants' No. 2 quarterback, but unnamed personnel within the organization think he would be a better option as the starter than Russell Wilson, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson seems to make a habit of rubbing some people the wrong way, as there was similar internal disagreement last season in Pittsburgh about whether he should start over Justin Fields. First-round pick Jaxson Dart will eventually take over the top job, but Winston's lack of recent starting success means that Wilson will likely need to struggle badly right out of the gate in order to give his veteran understudy a chance to claim the No. 1 role.
