2024 Fantasy Outlook
Smith took his talents to South Beach in the offseason, signing a two-year contract with the Dolphins. He’ll compete with Durham Smythe for the few touches left over for the tight ends behind wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane. Smith set career highs in targets (70), catches (50) and receiving yards (582) with the Falcons last season, and his three touchdowns in 2023 tied the second-highest total of his career, behind the eight-TD outlier he produced in his fourth and final season with the Titans back in 2020. Given his expected role in Miami, Smith’s production could look more like his unimpressive first stint in the AFC East, when the journeyman had a combined 539 yards and one touchdown for New England in the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. Productive in Week 5 win
Smith brought in five of eight targets for 62 yards in the Dolphins' 15-10 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished as the runner-up in receptions and receiving yards for the Dolphins while also tying Jaylen Waddle for second in targets. The veteran tight end was held without a catch in his first game with Tyler Huntley as his quarterback in Week 4, but Smith's resurgence Sunday featured a new season high in receiving yardage. Smith will likely get at least one more game with Huntley when Miami visits the Colts on Sunday, Oct. 20 following a Week 6 bye.

Smith, a 2017 third-round pick of the Titans, caught 114 passes for 1,302 yards and 16 touchdowns over four seasons in Tennessee, including a career-high 2020 in which he finished with a 41-448-8 line on 65 targets. Upon joining New England in 2021, he found the end zone just once in 30 games while operating in a timeshare at tight end with Hunter Henry. This offseason, he was traded to Atlanta for a seventh-round pick. Once Kyle Pitts recovers from a knee injury, Smith will operate as a backup, but either way, he figures to play a prominent role for the Falcons, who utilize multiple TE sets.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No. 3 option for Tagovailoa?
Jake Ciely of The Athletic lists Smith as one of his five breakout candidates at tight end heading into 2024, believing that the tight end should be the third option in the passing game behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
ANALYSIS
Despite playing alongside Kyle Pitts in Atlanta last season, Smith had a career year with 50 catches on 70 targets for 582 yards and three touchdowns. Smith signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins in March, and he is slated to be the top tight end ahead of Durham Smythe. Ciely notes that Smith's athleticism causes matchup problems for linebackers, and with Hill and Waddle sure to command most of the attention from opposing defenses, the eighth-year tight end out of Florida International should see plenty of looks as the third option for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the passing game.
