2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
After winning the Heisman Trophy last year, Hunter will soon become the NFL's first true two-way player since his mentor, Deion Sanders, played about half of the Cowboys' snaps on offense in 1996. While some called him a cornerback first and foremost during the pre-draft process, the Browns said otherwise, only to then trade the No. 2 overall pick to Jacksonville. Fortunately for prospective fantasy managers, the Jaguars used the pick on Hunter and were quick to announce that he'll start off prioritizing offense. Landing in Jacksonville rather than Cleveland also means better QB play, catching passes from Trevor Lawrence, although it'll be hard to eclipse 2024 first-round pick Brian Thomas as the primary target in a new-look attack under former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen. Coming off a 1,258-yard, 15-TD effort in his final season at Colorado, it shouldn't take long for Hunter to emerge as Lawrence's second-favorite option ahead of free-agent signing Dyami Brown and TE Brenton Strange. While he's only about average in terms of size (6-0, 188) and didn't go through pre-draft testing, Hunter has the speed and fluidity one might expect of a former No. 1 overall recruit who became the best college cornerback in the country before also making his case as the top wide receiver. The biggest question now is whether his ability on defense limits his playing time on offense. Read Past Outlooks

Focusing on offense first
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said Thursday that Hunter will start off focusing on offense, John Oehser of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coen's comments are music to the ears of fantasy managers and Jaguars fans alike, with Hunter -- the No. 2 overall pick out of Colorado -- having the chance to earn a starting job on offense and potentially help spark a breakout season for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The team wouldn't have given up such a massive haul to move up to the second spot in the draft without intent to use Hunter on both sides of the ball, but it's difficult to project what his two-way role may look like in terms of snap counts and targets. Jacksonville already has a bona fide No. 1 receiver in Brian Thomas, whose presence arguably reduces the pressure for Hunter to handle large snap counts on offense. Coen said Hunter will learn the team's defensive system and take some offseason reps on that side of the ball, even though the Jaguars want offense to be his priority for now.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Two-way usage coming
Hunter will begin working on both offense and defense during the same practice once training camp begins, Jaguars executive Tony Khan relayed during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.
ANALYSIS
So far this offseason, Hunter has seen time at both wide receiver and cornerback, but not during the same session as Jacksonville's coaching staff carefully manages his workload and scheme intake. The second overall pick in the 2025 Draft will start to have the kid gloves taken off when pads go on in camp, however, and the team is confident that he'll make able to make an impact on both sides of the ball in his first NFL campaign. Khan avoided offering any kind of estimate on the kind of snap counts Hunter might see in the regular season, however.
