Tournament Preview

BMW International Open returns this year to Golfclub Munchen Eichenried for the 24th time. Changes have been made to all 18 greens and length has been added since it last played host to the event in 2017 , but course horses will be spotlighted this week.  The flat, tree-lined course consists of tight fairways in spots and high rough. Many types of golfers have won this event, but length off the tee is definitely an advantage. The winning score is usually in the high teens under par.  Par-5 scoring will be key this week.

Key Stats to Winning at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried

  • Greens in Regulation
  • Par 5 Scoring
  • Driving Distance
  • SG: Approach

Past Champions

2018 - Matt Wallace
2017 - Andres Romero
2016 - Henrik Stenson
2015 - Pablo Larrazabal
2014 - Fabrizio Zanotti

Draftkings Picks (with odds)

Martin Kaymer - $10,400 (16/1)

The 2008 champion arrives in good form.  Kaymer has two top-10s in his last five events and finished T35 last week at the U.S. Open.  He leads the European Tour in par-5 scoring this season and ranks first in greens in regulation. The hometown favorite should feel comfortable this week, and he is a good price compared to the three golfers above him, given his history here.

Lee Westwood - $8,900 (28/1)

Westwood did not compete at Pebble Beach last week, which must have stung. I think the motivation of not playing in the U.S. Open and the success he's had this season is enough to give him serious consideration this week.  He is also a past champion at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, winning in 2003. Westwood is third in SG: approach and 23rd in par-5 scoring this season.

Pablo Larrazabal - $8,700 (40/1)

The 2015 champion arrives at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried with high finishes at his last two stroke-play events.  He was T4 at Made In Denmark and T8 prior to that at British Masters. As a past champion, he obviously has the skills to get the job done and appears to be in a great spot to do it again.

Andrew Johnston - $7,400 (80/1)

Johnston has made four of seven cuts this season but is trending in the right direction at the moment.  He was T42 at British Masters and T25 last time out at Made In Denmark. At Golfclub Munchen Eichenried in 2015, Johnston finished T40 after an opening-round 66. He is 63rd in greens in regulation and 39th in par-5 scoring.
