                2025 Fantasy Outlook

The Hurricanes have allowed Kochetkov to slowly build up to being an NHL starter, but it doesn't look like he'll have to take on the No. 1 job alone in 2025-26. He has often alternated starts over the last two years, and he went 27-16-3 with a 2.60 GAA and a .897 save percentage over 47 regular-season contests. The oft-injured Frederik Andersen has been Kochetkov's tandem partner in goal in recent years, and that is set to continue. Still, Kochetkov is talented, and the Hurricanes' system is pretty goalie-friendly. Combined with Andersen's tendency to miss at least one extended chunk of the season, Kochetkov should be a good option in fantasy. Activated from injured reserve
Kochetkov (lower body) was activated off injured reserve Friday.
				  ANALYSIS
Kochetkov has not played this season as the Hurricanes have been relying on Frederik Andersson and Brandon Bussi for the first month of the season. Expect Bussi to be sent to the minors with the return of Kochetkov. Kochetkov could start as early as Saturday in Boston, but with the Hurricanes playing four games next week, including three games in four nights, look for Kochetkov to play at least twice over nine nights. Carolina placed K'Andre Miller (lower body) on injured reserve.

				2023
Kochetkov played excellent hockey in 2023-24. He saw action in 42 games, delivering a 23-13-4 record, 2.33 GAA and .911 save percentage. He even started Game 3 of the Canes' first-round series against the Rangers instead of Frederik Andersen. Kochetkov's 23 wins set a team record for wins by a rookie, and his strong play earned him a nod on the 2023-24 NHL All-Rookie Team. So, what will 2024-25 hold? Starter Frederik Andersen is 34 and has played just one full season in his last four and he's seen action in only 50 of the Canes' possible 162 over the last two years. He's an injury waiting to happen, and Kochetkov's star is on the rise. Thirty wins are within reach and so is a career year.

				  On track to return soon
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Monday that Kochetkov, who is dealing with a lower-body injury, will return "very, very soon," Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
				  ANALYSIS
Kochetkov has missed the start of the regular season due to his injury. Brind'Amour said that Tuesday's game against the Golden Knights could be an option for Kochetkov to return, but it isn't a guarantee. Even if the netminder is forced to miss at least one more game Tuesday, his return seems to be imminent.
