2025 Fantasy Outlook
Expectations were sky-high for Marchessault after he was part of a major spending spree to add talent to the Predators last offseason. Unfortunately, the first year of his five-year, $27.5 million contract did not go according to plan, and the 34-year-old had one of his worst seasons as a pro, scoring just 21 goals, his fewest ever playing a full season. Perhaps most concerning is a player who’s usually been sound defensively was a minus-29. Father time is undefeated, and whether or not that has caught up with Marchessault is a legitimate concern, but it should be noted this was the winger’s first season with a new team and in a new environment. The Predators are still a team with talent, and if Marchessault continues to get power-play time and play on a line with Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg next season, don’t rule out a bounceback campaign. One of each in Wednesday's win
Marchessault scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.
ANALYSIS
Marchessault ended the year with two goals and five assists over five contests after missing four games due to a lower-body injury. He had a total of 21 goals, 56 points (23 on the power play), 206 shots on net, 77 hits, 35 PIM and a minus-29 rating over 78 appearances. His 10.2 shooting percentage was his lowest since 2020-21, and combined with a lower shot volume, it explains most of his struggles in his first year with the Predators.

With the departure of Marchessault to Nashville, the Golden Knights are down to just two remaining Golden Misfits. The 33-year-old winger is joining former teammate Steven Stamkos in a revamped Predators' lineup that could see the duo link up together on the second line while also partnering up on the No. 1 power-play unit. With these roles in hand, Marchessault should be capable of reaching the 55-point mark for the fourth consecutive season. The high-end finisher is coming off a career year in which he racked up 42 goals, a threshold that might not be as attainable in 2024-25 considering he was scoring at a 15.8 percent rate last year, well above the 12.0 scoring percentage he recorded over the prior two seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Unlikely to be dealt
Marchessault is unlikely to be traded by the Predators, John Glennon of the Nashville Post reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Marchessault signed a five-year deal last summer, but he disappointed with a 21-goal, 56-point over 78 appearances in 2024-25. Despite that, general manager Barry Trotz is apparently uninterested in dealing the winger, which makes sense since it would be unwise to sell low. As such, expect Marchessault to fill a top-six role again in 2025-26.
