2025 Fantasy Outlook
Necas started the season with Carolina on a torrid pace, racking up 43 points over the team's first 28 games. He cooled down after that, earning just 12 points over the next 21 outings. The right-shot winger was then dealt to Colorado in the Mikko Rantanen deal. It didn't take long for the smooth-skating forward to get on the same page with his new teammates, posting 12 goals and 21 assists over the final 36 contests of the regular season. In the end, the playmaking winger finished with a career-best 83 points (27 goals, 56 assists) over 79 total regular-season appearances. The 2017 first-round selection's dynamic play style translated well to a high-flying Colorado squad, and a full campaign playing with superstars such as Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar could help vault Necas' production to another level. One of each in Game 6 win
Necas scored a goal on six shots, dished an assist, added two hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Stars in Game 6.
ANALYSIS
Necas posted his second multi-point effort in a row after going scoreless in the three games prior to this improved stretch on offense. Overall, the winger has a goal, four assists, 12 shots on net, 16 hits and a plus-3 rating over six playoff contests. Necas' slump didn't cost him a top-line role, so expect him to be there again in Game 7 on Saturday.

Necas notched 24 goals and 53 points over 77 regular-season games last year following his 71-point breakout in 2022-23. He plummeted from 43 assists to 29, slipped from 26 power-play points to 13 and dropped from 28 goals to 24 despite averaging a career-high 3.00 shots. Necas only had seven tallies and six helpers in 27 contests to conclude the 2023-24 campaign before he got back on track during the playoffs, accumulating nine points in 11 appearances. The 25-year-old forward has been the subject of trade speculation throughout the offseason. Regardless of where he plays in 2024-25, Necas should improve his statistics from last season, even if he doesn't fully replicate his 2022-23 success.

Discussing contract extension
Necas' agent is engaged in contract negotiations with the Avalanche, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Necas is entering the final season of his two-year, $13 million contract, so he's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026. Given that the Avalanche traded Mikko Rantanen to Carolina in a package headlined by Necas rather than see Rantanen potentially walk as a free agent, Colorado should be motivated to lock up Necas as soon as possible to avoid going through that whole process again. Necas recorded a career-high 83 points in 79 regular-season appearances last year, including 11 goals and 28 points in 30 outings with Colorado after the trade.
