Perfetti has seen his production go up every year he’s played in the NHL, and after an 18-goal, 32-assist season, that didn’t change. Despite spending much of the season on the second power-play unit, Perfetti still recorded a career-high 15 points with the man advantage. Now entering the final season of a two-year bridge deal, this is a chance for the 23-year-old to perform well and cash in. With Winnipeg’s top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Villardi all figuring to return, there might not be a path to a top-line role for Perfetti, but even if his role stays the same, he should continue his upward trajectory now knowing the rigors of an 82-game NHL season. His 11-goal improvement from 2022-23 was spearheaded by a career-high 13.4 shooting percentage and an increase to 2.00 shots per game. Perfetti also had a great start to the year, supplying nine tallies and 19 points through his first 23 outings - though he registered just 10 goals and nine helpers across 48 appearances to conclude the campaign. Having said that, the departures of Tyler Toffoli and Sean Monahan via free agency in the summer should move Perfetti back into a top-six role in 2024-25. The 22-year-old Perfetti would benefit from better deployment, including a return to the first power-play combination. If his ice time increases and becomes a regular in the lineup again, he has the potential to be a breakout candidate this campaign.
