Ersson emerged as the starter for the Flyers in 2023-24. He got off to a solid start, but his play suffered as the season progressed. He was elite until Jan. 18 (.927 save percentage and 1.85 GAA) if you omit the 12 goals allowed in his first two outings of the year. After that, he posted a 3.23 GAA and an .876 save percentage in 31 contests. Ersson will split time this season with Ivan Fedotov, and that rest should help him avoid the rigors of a heavy workload. Consequently, Ersson could be a potential steal in daily formats where lightning in a bottle can deliver positive results. Ersson, who hasn't played since Nov. 11 due to a lower-body injury, might return for Thursday's home tilt against Florida, per Kevin Kurz of The Athletic.

ANALYSIS
Ersson has a 5-2-2 record, 2.70 GAA and .902 save percentage in 11 appearances in 2024-25. Ivan Fedotov and Aleksei Kolosov have been splitting the workload in Ersson's absence. Although Kolosov has done well recently, winning his past three starts while stopping 69 of 75 shots, the 22-year-old will likely return to AHL Lehigh Valley, though there's a chance his success will lead to Fedotov being waived instead or the Flyers even carrying three goaltenders. In any of those scenarios, Ersson is projected to resume his role as the Flyers' No. 1 goaltender.
