2025 Fantasy Outlook
Skinner had his worst season as a No. 1 goalie in 2024-25, posting a 26-18-4 record with a 2.81 GAA and a .896 save percentage over 51 regular-season outings. He had some injuries late in the campaign, and while he opened the postseason as the Oilers' top goalie, he yielded those duties to Calvin Pickard after two games, temporarily took it back, then was replaced again during the Stanley Cup Finals. Skinner's $2.6 million cap hit is manageable -- it's not enough to guarantee him a hearty share of playing time if his performance doesn't match. Both Skinner and Pickard are under contract for 2025-26, but with the cap rising, the Oilers may consider an upgrade in goal before next season. Skinner's been fine most of the time, but his playoff struggles cast some doubt on his long-term outlook with the team. Read Past Outlooks

Gets 100th career win
Skinner made 21 saves Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime victory over Ottawa.
ANALYSIS
It was Skinner's 100th NHL win. The Oilers will use patience with their netminder, who needs to keep working on his glove hand and the way he handles the puck. Skinner is working with a new goalie coach, and while he's just 2-2-1, he does have a solid 2.17 GAA. That's better than he's delivered in any season so far. We are keeping the faith.

2024

2022
Skinner's 2023-24 swung harder than a pendulum. He started the season with a painful 3-9-1 record and a .891 save percentage. Then in late November, he started a run where he looked like a Vezina candidate. Finally, Skinner got benched in the second round of the playoffs. It was what he needed to reset his game and almost win a Cup. Fantasy-wise, the hometown goalie finished tied for third overall in wins (36) alongside Sergei Bobrovsky and Igor Shesterkin. Despite that bad start, Skinner finished with a 2.62 GAA and a .905 save percentage overall. Along the way, he supplanted the great Grant Fuhr for the franchise record for consecutive wins (12). Skinner has the potential to be a top-tier netminder if he can put together a complete season. He'll get that shot in 2024-25 with a heavy workload and top-eight finishes in every fantasy category.
