Andre Fialho

Finished in UFC 275 defeat
June 11, 2022
Fialho lost to Jake Matthews via KO (punches) at 2:24 of Round 2 at UFC 275 on Saturday in Singapore.
Fialho picked up a pair of knockout wins in a three-week span from mid-April to early May, but a third-straight win in the span of less than two months wasn't in the cards. In a fight viewed as a pick 'em, Fialho wasn't all that competitive. He landed just 19 total strikes compared to 47 from Matthews, and there was a clear speed edge for the Aussie. Fialho has legitimate power, and is somehow still just 28 years of old, but there are legitimate concerns regarding how he will generate offense if those power shots aren't landing. There are also questions regarding Fialho's chin, as three of his five career losses have come via knockout. Ultimately, Fialho has the look of a guy capable of brilliant performances, but also of a fighter who will be maddeningly inconsistent moving forward.

Next bout on books
May 18, 2022
Fialho will face Jake Matthews on the UFC 274 card June 11.
After taking a loss in his UFC debut, Fialho has earned victories in each of his last two bouts via KO/TKO. Next up is a fighter in Matthews who is aiming to bounce back from a loss that ended his three-match winning streak. while Fiahlo will aim to use his inch of height and reach to his advantage to keep the fight upright, he will also likely need to put his 75 percent takedown defense to use. Matthews averages 1.93 takedowns per 15 minutes and will presumably aim to take this one to the mat as well.
Second KO win in three weeks
May 7, 2022
Fialho defeated Cameron VanCamp via KO (punches) at 2:35 of Round 1 at UFC 274 on Saturday in Phoenix.
It's Fialho's second knockout win in the span of three weeks. He hammered Miguel Baeza at the UFC Apex just last month and did the same thing to VanCamp here. Quickly becoming known for his fight-ending power, Fialho dropped a massive left hook on VanCamp which essentially closed the show right there. It also earned him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus on an evening with very few finishes. Fialho's floor is shaky because he's going to struggle to generate offense if his power shots aren't landing, but it's impossible to argue with the recent results. The 28-year-old has already fought three times in 2022 and has asked for another bout on the June 11 card in Singapore. Why not?
Facing Cameron VanCamp
April 30, 2022
Fialho will face Cameron VanCamp at UFC 274 on May 7, Marcel Dorff of reports.
The late addition to the card features a pair of fighters with very little UFC experience between them. Fialho lost his UFC debut against Michel Pereira by unanimous decision in January, but he rebounded to score a first-round TKO victory over Miguel Baeza in mid-April. He'll return to the Octagon just three weeks later against VanCamp, who will be making his promotional debut.
Scores huge KO for first UFC win
April 16, 2022
Fialho defeated Miguel Baeza via TKO (punches) at 4:39 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Fialho made his UFC debut this past January and looked quite good. He dropped a unanimous decision to Michel Pereira in that one but fought well considering he accepted the bout on extremely short notice. He again found himself an underdog (+155) for this one, but the heavy-handed Sanford MMA product clipped Baeza with an uppercut late in Round 1 which turned the tide of the entire fight. Fialho isn't particularly athletic in a traditional sense, and his stand-up defense can get lazy at times, but the power is entirely legitimate. He's also still just 28 years old. We'll see if Fialho can build on this strong performance his next time out. Meanwhile, he'll take home a $50,000 bonus after being awarded Performance of the Night honors.
Fighting Baeza in April
February 25, 2022
Fialho will face Miguel Baeza in a welterweight bout at UFC's April 16 event, Marcel Dorff of reports.
Baeza was originally slated to take on Dhiego Lima, but the latter abruptly retired earlier in February. Fialho won four straight bouts before falling to Michel Pereira at UFC 270 last, though that was a strong performance given he stepped in as a replacement on short notice. He's a replacement fighter once again but will have nearly two months to prep this time around. Baeza was victorious in his first three fights in the UFC but lost to Khaos Williams and Santiago Ponzinibbio during 2021.
