Struggles continue at UFC 307
WelterweightUFC
October 5, 2024
Means lost to Court McGee via submission (neck crank) at 3:19 of Round 1 at UFC 307 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
Means has been struggling of late, entering with losses in four of his last five fights, but this was by far the most concerning performance of all. He barely lasted three minutes against a 40-year-old opponent who had lost each of his prior three bouts. McGee landed a few early shots before scoring a takedown and submitting Means almost immediately. Set to turn 41 years of age himself next February, "The Dirty Bird" has just one victory dating back to June 2021. The organization could easily decide to move on here.

Means is scheduled to compete against fellow welterweight Court McGee at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City on Oct. 5, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
There are not many more UFC fighters more tenured than McGee, who has been with the promotion since winning Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter in 2010. Perhaps competing against an overly tenured and inconsistent welterweight in McGee can help Means prevent a losing streak to likely finish off his 2024.
Struggles continue in Vegas

Means lost to Uros Medic via TKO (punches) at 2:09 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 55 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This result is concerning for Means on multiple levels. Not only was it his fourth loss in his past five fights (three of which have come via stoppage), but it's how easily he was knocked out. Means entered the evening with two knockout defeats in 50 professional fights. He's now 40 years of age. If his durability is starting to wane in even the slightest, he's finished. It was essentially just one uppercut from Medic that closed the show. Means hasn't hinted at retirement as of yet, but it's hard to imagine the UFC running him back out there much longer unless the results start to suddenly and dramatically improve.
Draws Medic in Vegas
WelterweightUFC
March 21, 2024
Means will take on Uros Medic in a welterweight matchup at UFC Vegas 91 on April 27, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Means got back in the win column and potentially saved his roster spot in September by picking up a third-round finish over Andre Fialho. He now draws Medic, who was submitted his last time out in November but had been riding a two-fight winning streak prior to that. Neither man offers much in terms of wrestling, as both are high-volume strikers with Medic holding a slight edge, statistically. Means will have height and reach advantages, however.
Rebounds in pro fight No. 50

September 23, 2023
Means defeated Andre Fialho via TKO (punches) at 1:15 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Competing in his 50th professional bout and facing an opponent that entered having been knocked out in three straight fights, Means turned back the clock in a complete all-around performance. He varied his strikes beautifully, led by a perfectly placed knee that crumbled Fialho in the opening frame. There were a couple hairy moments for "The Dirty Bird" when he was caught along the fence and seemed to be in trouble, but he fought through it, eventually stopping his tired opponent early in Round 3. The days of the 39-year-old hanging tough against the best the UFC has to offer have come and gone, but he still has plenty of value for a company which holds an event most every week. He'll also walk away with an extra $50,000 after this back-and-forth affair was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
Will fight Fialho
WelterweightUFC
August 17, 2023
Means will fight Andre Fialho at UFC Vegas 79, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Means may be running out of time and chances at the age of 39. He has lost his last three fights in a row, but being in the UFC for more than a decade has its perks. His opponent is coming in with poor form as well, as Fialho is just 2-4 and has lost several in brutal fashion.
