Johnny Eduardo
Stopped by Nathaniel Wood via second-round submission
June 1, 2018
Eduardo lost to Nathaniel Wood via submission (D'arce choke) at 2:18 of Round 2 at UFC Utica on Friday.
Eduardo appeared to win the first round of this fight, as he used his veteran experience to pick his spots and avoid engaging in a brawl with Wood. This strategy worked to his advantage, as he found openings to unload multiple heavy combinations to the head and body of Wood, who was bleeding from the nose in his corner between rounds. It was looking like more of the same in the second round, but then Eduardo attempted a takedown that was stuffed by Wood. The young prospect proceeded to put his submission game on display, and Eduardo found himself in a D'arce choke before fight fans could fully process what had happened. Eduardo has now been submitted eight times in his professional career, and has lost three of his last four fights in the UFC.

Receives long medical suspension after UFC 212

Eduardo took all 43 significant strikes landed by Matthew Lopez to the head, leading to his defeat (KO/TKO) at 2:57 of Round 1. He landed 16 strikes from a distance but once Lopez took him to the mat, it was over. It has been stated that Eduardo sustained a fractured foot during the fight as well. Finished by Matthew Lopez at UFC 212
June 4, 2017
Eduardo lost to Matthew Lopez via TKO (punches) at 2:57 of Round 1 at UFC 212 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.
It was a rough night for the majority of the Brazilians and Eduardo was no exception. Eduardo appeared to be in halfway decent position during a ground exchange before Lopez was able to kneel over him and land a ton of unanswered shots. Eduardo ate a good 8-to-10 extra punches due to referee Mario Yamasaki not stepping in when he should have. Eduardo has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights.
Knocks out Manny Gamburyan in Sao Paulo Saturday
November 19, 2016
Eduardo defeated Manny Gamburyan via TKO (punches) at 0:46 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Eduardo is an above-average bantamweight, although his over-the-top celebrations have become quite annoying. He finished Gamburyan on Saturday with a straight jab to the face before pouncing on top of him and unleashing countless shots that forced referee Mario Yamasaki to call off the contest. Eduardo bounced back nicely following his loss to Aljamain Sterling last December. Eduardo made his UFC debut in August 2011, but he has just five career fights with the company. If you wish to make some headway in the UFC's deep 135-pound division , you may want to fight more than once a year.
Booked for UFC Fight Night 100
September 27, 2016
Eduardo will face Manny Gamburyan at UFC Fight Night 100 on Nov. 19 in Sau Paulo, Brazil.
Eduardo will put his submission skills to the test against another effective grappler in Gamburyan, doing so in front of a Brazilian crowd that will be behind him. The opportunity will allow Eduardo to potentially bounce back from a submission loss to Aljamain Sterling -- a fight in which he was not very competitive.
December 10, 2015
Eduardo lost to Aljamain Sterling via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:18 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Thursday in Las Vegas.
Everything that Eduardo was worried about came to fruition in this fight. Constantly worried about the takedown threat from Sterling, Eduardo threw virtually nothing on the feet and when the takedown came, he could do little to stop it. Simply put, Eduardo couldn't come close to matching the athleticism of Sterling. Eduardo's brutal KO win over Eddie Wineland in May 2014 seems like decades ago.
