Kurt Holobaugh

Falls to 0-3 in UFC
May 11, 2019
Holobaugh lost to Thiago Moises via unanimous decision (26-30, 26-30, 27-30) at UFC 237 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Given a chance at redemption following back-to-back losses to Raoni Barcelos and Shane Burgos to begin his UFC career, Holobaugh once again failed to show up. Despite landing just seven less total strikes than his opponent (115-108), Holobaugh's shots did little-to-no damage against Moises. He also had difficulty maintaining an advantageous position in the rare instance he was able to get there in the first place. It was a shockingly poor performance given the fact Holobaugh's job may have very well been on the line. Starting your run with the company's with three straight setbacks is not a recipe for success.

Set to fight Thiago Moises
March 28, 2019
Holobaugh is booked to fight Thiago Moises at UFC 237 on May 11, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
Making his second stint with the UFC, Holobaugh is searching for his first victory after losing his first two bouts against Shane Burgos and Raoni Barcelos. Moises is in search for the same thing after flopping in his Octagon debut last November.
Taps out to Shane Burgos at UFC 230
November 3, 2018
Holobaugh lost to Shane Burgos via submission (armbar) at 2:11 of Round 1 at UFC 230 on Saturday in New York City.
Holobaugh is going to be kicking himself after this one. After dropping Burgos with a perfectly placed left to the chin, Holobaugh left his arm exposed and he found himself tapping out just moments later. It was a classic case of a fighter forgetting about defending when they have the opposition in trouble. A product of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, Holobaugh has now been stopped in both of his two official bouts with the company and could be looking at a release.
Paired against Shane Burgos at UFC 230
October 17, 2018
Holobaugh will take on Shane Burgos in an early preliminary fight at UFC 230 on Nov. 3, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN Sports reports.
Holobaugh has lost his only UFC match, getting knocked out for the first time in his career by Raoni Barcelos in the third round at UFC Fight Night 133 in July. His opponent, Burgos, has lost just once in his professional career, though that came in his most recent match, when he fell in the third round against Calvin Kattar by TKO at UFC 220 back in January.
Knocked out for first time in career Saturday in Boise
July 14, 2018
Holobaugh lost to Raoni Barcelos via TKO (punches) at 1:29 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
Holobaugh was almost certainly on his way to dropping a decision before the stoppage came. Despite the fact he attempted 295 strikes compared to just 171 from Barcelos, Holobaugh connected at just a 38 percent (115/295) clip and struggled to defend the takedown. The 31-year-old had never been knocked out prior to Saturday and he will be given another chance with the company in the near future. It was Holobaugh's first loss in more than two years.
Will take on Raoni Barcelos in Boise
June 17, 2018
Holobaugh will take on Raoni Barcelos in a featherweight matchup at UFC BOise on July 14, MMAFighting.com reports.
Holobaugh has had a rocky road to get back to fighting under the UFC banner. He lost to Pat Healy under the Strikeforce banner in 2013, then lost another decision to Steven Siler back at UFC 159. The 31-year-old was given another opportunity on the inaugural season of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, and impressed with a victory over Matt Bessette. That win came with a slight asterisk, however, as he used an IV to rehydrate for this fight -- a practice that is banned by the U.S. Anti-Doping agency -- and it resulted in a six-month suspension. This could be the final opportunity for Holobaugh if he doesn't emerge victorious against a fighter making their UFC debut.
