Slated to face Ferreira
LightweightUFC
August 28, 2025
Hernandez will take on Carlos Diego Ferreira in a lightweight bout at Noche UFC in San Antonio on Sept. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez got off to a rough start to his UFC career, but he's on a bit of a hot streak after winning his last three fights. Most recently, he bested Chase Hooper in the first round of a fight back in August. He'll now look for win number 10 and his fourth victory in a row against a fighter in Ferreira who will be looking to bounce back coming off a loss.

Statement win in Chicago
LightweightUFC
August 16, 2025
Hernandez defeated Chase Hooper via TKO (punches) at 4:58 of Round 1 at UFC 319 on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez's speed and power were on full display in this one, as he made his longer opponent chase him around the cage before popping him with crisp counters. "The Great" remained locked in towards the end of the round, finding the perfect shot that almost twisted Hooper's head around. Hernandez has the raw tools to trouble anyone on the right night, but he has shown lapses in consistency throughout his career. He has now won three fights in a row, however, which may signal that the 32-year-old has figured something out. Hernandez improved to 17-8-0 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.

Hernandez is set to face off against Chase Hooper at UFC 319 on Aug. 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez, who most recently took down Kurt Holobaugh at UFC Fight Night 254, has drawn Chase Hooper for his next bout. The 32-year-old American currently holds an 8-7 record during his time with the UFC.
Barely gets past Kurt Holobaugh
LightweightUFC
March 15, 2025
Hernandez defeated Kurt Holobaugh via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez has been living right in terms of judging decisions of late. He got the call in a split decision win over Austin Hubbard in his most recent bout in October, and here he took a unanimous decision over Holobaugh despite the fact the latter sure appeared to do enough to win each of the first two rounds. Hernandez could get nothing going on the feet but did manage to land 4-of-5 takedown attempts for 6:39 worth of control time. Unfortunately, he did nothing with his positional advantage until Round 3. No longer a kid anymore at age 32, Alex is still below .500 (3-4) in his last seven bouts dating back to February 2022.
Scheduled to face Holobaugh
LightweightUFC
January 9, 2025
Hernandez will face Kurt Holobaugh at UFC Vegas 104 on March 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez defeated Austin Hubbard via split decision in October last year to snap a brief losing streak. However, the 32-year-old has been struggling of late and has dropped four of his last six bouts across all promotions. He owns a 7-7 record across 14 fights at the UFC level in his career.
Snaps brief losing streak
LightweightUFC
October 5, 2024
Hernandez defeated Austin Hubbard via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 307 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
Stepping in for Nate Landwehr on just a few weeks' notice, Hernandez did a nice job of both making weight -- an issue prior to his last fight -- and putting forth a 15-minute performance. Hernandez stuffed all 12 of Hubbard's takedown attempts. That allowed him to pull ahead on the feet, even if this bout was fairly close. The win snapped a two-fight losing streak for Hernandez and may very well have saved his roster spot in the process. Alex has a ton of talent, but has always struggled with consistency on a fight-by-fight basis. Perhaps this performance will get him going.
