Whitmire had to go to the emergency room Saturday for an unspecified reason and will not be fighting at UFC 248 according to her opponent Polyana Viana.
ANALYSIS
It is unclear what happened to Whitmire, but she did miss weight at Friday's weigh-in, so her hospital trip could be related to that. Expect an update when more light is shed on this situation.

Whitmire missed weight for her strawweight match against Polyana Viana at UFC 248 on Saturday in Las Vegas, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Whitmire's bout against Viana is still on, but she'll now be required to forfeit 20 percent of her purse. She missed weight by 1.5 pounds. Entering UFC 248 with an even 2-2 UFC record, she may need to rely on success with the takedown in order to emerge victorious on Saturday. In matches where she's been able to land a takedown, Whitmire is currently undefeated.

Whitmire will take on Polyana Viana in a strawweight matchup at UFC 248 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Whitmire enters this fight at an even 2-2 with the company, and even though her opponent has lost three fights in a row, this matchup is essentially a pick'em in the sportsbooks as of Monday afternoon. Through a small, four-fight sample size, Whitmire has absorbed more significant strikes than she's landed, though the volume hasn't necessarily been anything to write home about. He success has essentially hinged on the takedown -- she's 2-0 in fights where she's been able to record one and 0-2 in fights where she hasn't. Fortunately for Whitmire, Viana's takedown defense sits at just 50 percent through four UFC bouts of her own.

Whitmire was defeated by Amanda Ribas via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:10 of Round 2 at UFC Minneapolis on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Whitmire entered this fight as the betting favorite, but really didn't look the part early. She absorbed some early shots and was unable to keep her back off the cage, which led to Ribas attempting (and succeeding) with the takedown multiple times. Whitmire was able to hand fight and fend off a rear-naked choke attempt in the first round, but found herself in the same position not far into the second, and Ribas was able to secure the finish. The unimpressive showing snaps a two-fight winning streak for the 28-year-old.

Whitmire will take on Amanda Ribas in a strawweight matchup at UFC Minneapolis on June 29, Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Whitmire has bounced back from a defeat in her UFC debut to pick up back-to-back victories over Jamie Moyle and Aleksandra Albu. She'll now turn to Ribas, a 25-year-old Brazilian prospect that was set to make her debut at the TUF 25 Finale, but saw those plans derailed by a two-year USADA suspension. Whitmire may just be 5-2 as a professional, but has racked up plenty of experience on the amateur circuit, and is a veteran of TUF season 26, where she lost to Roxanne Modafferi in the quarterfinals. Pushing her winning streak to three would give her a good case for a ranked opponent her next time out.

Whitmire defeated Aleksandra Albu via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:01 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 1 on Sunday in Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
This was a very impressive performance from Whitmire. She ate some shots early from Albu, but she ducked down and went for a takedown. Once she secured the top position, she easily moved to the back and locked in the rear-naked choke. Whitmire lost her UFC debut in 2017, she has bounced back with a pair of wins, and she might move into the rankings with this win.
