Demolished in second UFC bout
November 28, 2020
Gordon lost to Su Mudaerji via KO (punches) at 0:44 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 18 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Gordon was simply overwhelmed early in this one. He ate a straight left hand square in the teeth and buckled moments afterwards, as if his legs essentially gave out. The ref stepped in to save him from any follow-up shots, as he had essentially given himself up. Gordon now falls to 0-2 under the UFC banner and looked every bit the part of the biggest betting underdog on the card here.
Targeted for November
September 16, 2020
Gordon is in line to take on Su Mudaerji in a flyweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Nov. 28, Nolan King of reports.
Gordon signed with the UFC back in July and was given several late adjustments before ultimately facing Amir Albazi and losing in the first round. He'll now get a full fight camp to train for Mudaerji -- a 1-1 fighter who last made the walk to the Octagon in August of 2019, picking up a win over Andre Soukhamthath. Gordon is typically known for his ground game, which is noteworthy given all four of Mudaerji's pro losses are via submission. Gordon will be giving up an inch in both height and reach.
Taps out in UFC debut
July 18, 2020
Gordon lost to Amir Albazi via submission (Triangle Choke) at 4:42 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
The loss snaps a four-fight winning streak for the debuting Gordon. Gordon is known for his ground game (six career submission wins), but he found himself on the wrong end of a triangle choke in this one. Gordon attempted to scramble his way back to the feet, but Albazi would have none of it, and the Canadian was forced to tap shortly after. Gordon had spent his entire pro career prior to Saturday on the regional circuit outside of one appearance for Bellator back in 2014.
Now facing Albazi on July 18
July 14, 2020
Gordon (12-3-0) is now scheduled to face Amir Albazi (12-1-0) in a flyweight fight at the UFC's event Saturday in Abu Dhabi after Albazi stepped in to replace Aleksander Doskalchuk (10-2-0), Marcel Dorff of reports.
Gordon himself had been added to the card as a replacement for Tagir Ulanbekov earlier this month, but he'll take on a new opponent on even shorter notice with Doskalchuk bowing out for an unspecified reason. The 30-year-old Gordon will take a four-fight winning streak into the Octagon.
Joins UFC ranks for July 18 fight
July 3, 2020
Gordon signed with the UFC on Friday and will fight Aleksandr Doskalchuk in a flyweight bout at UFC FN on July 18, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Tagir Ulanbekov was originally slated to fight Doskalchuk, but Ulanbekov has since dropped out, opening the door for Gordon to make his UFC debut. Gordon has a 12-3-0 career MMA record, while Dosalchuk, who is also making his first UFC appearance, has an 10-2-0 record in MMA.
