Smashed by Joaquin Buckley
MiddleweightUFC
November 21, 2020
Wright lost to Joaquin Buckley via KO (punches) at 0:18 of Round 2 at UFC 255 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Wright had no chance against one of the hardest hitters the middleweight division has seen in quite some time. The 29-year-old California native hung around for about a round before Buckley began to connect with everything but the kitchen sink late in the first frame. Referee Herb Dean would have been well within his rights to stop the fight and Wright's corner probably never sent him out for Round 2. It was over moments later. Wright knocked out Ike Villanueva in 91 seconds in his company debut this past August but there doesn't appear to be a ton to get excited about here.

Quick KO win in UFC debut
MiddleweightUFC
August 22, 2020
Wright defeated Ike Villanueva via TKO (Doctor's Stoppage) at 1:31 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
MMA fighters aren't paid by the hour so there was really no reason for Wright to potentially draw this one out in his UFC debut. Taking this fight on late notice for Jorge Gonzalez (undisclosed), Wright clipped Villanueva with a shot to the head before following up with vicious knees. The knees opened up a vicious cut above Villanueva's right eye, and the cageside physician determined he could no longer continue. We'll have to see how Wright looks against a bit better opponent his next time out, but in addition to having a terrific nickname ("The Beverly Hills Ninja"), Wright displayed some legitimate power here. We'll see if he can keep it up.
