High volume earns $50k
December 6, 2021
Vlismas defeated Mallory Martin via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Vegas 44 on Saturday.
The artist formerly known as Cheyanne Buys, Vlismas took this fight on short notice just weeks after overcoming a serious battle with COVID-19, and she ended up putting forth one of her best performances to date. She won the significant striking tally in all three rounds, setting a new career high with 134 and bringing up her career average to 5.83 per minute. Vlismas, who had been taken down five times in previous two fights, also stuffed all five of Martin's attempts here. Furthermore, she has the durability of Martin to thank, as Martin was able to eat her shots and fire back, ultimately leading to both women getting $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses. The durability, volume and willing to fight on short notice will all help the stock of Vlismas moving forward.

Paired with Loma Lookboonmee

Buys will take on Loma Lookboonmee in a strawweight bout in Las Vegas on Nov. 20, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Buys bounced back from a decision loss to Montserrat Ruiz in her UFC debut to defeat Gloria de Paula in a very quick match in July, earning a TKO victory after just one minute. She'll face a fighter in Lookboonmee who has slightly more UFC experience, winning three times and losing once under the promotion's banner, with all four results coming via decision.
Makes statement with quick KO
July 31, 2021
Buys defeated Gloria de Paula via TKO (strikes) at 1:00 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 28 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The UFC seems intent on pushing Buys, and she responded in a major way in this one. Badly needing a win on the heels of a unanimous decision loss to Montserrat Ruiz in her company debut this past March, Buys nearly decapitated de Paula after kicking her in the face after the Brazilian had just gotten up off the mat. It was a completely legal and vicious shot, and also one that will earn her a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. It should have been over right there, but referee Mark Smith decided to let the fight continue, and Buys finished it shortly thereafter. We really have no idea how good Buys is because she has never really fought anyone of note, but the 115-pound women's division needs all the help it can get, and Buys is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
