Ricci will no longer face Jessica Penne at UFC Vegas 61 on Saturday after the UFC canceled the fight due to Penne falling ill, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's an unfortunate development for the two bantamweights, but the UFC doctors were ultimately unable to clear Penne to participate due to an undisclosed illness. As a result of the cancelation, Ricci will now have to wait to return to the Octagon until a new fight is scheduled.

No longer fighting Vlismas in October
BantamweightUFC
August 29, 2022
Ricci is no longer in line to face Cheyanne Vlismas in a bantamweight fight Oct. 1 at UFC event in Las Vegas after Vlismas announced Monday via her personal Instagram account that she's withdrawn from the matchup due to a personal matter.
ANALYSIS
Vlismas followed up in her post that she intends to return to the Octagon in December, but it's unclear if Ricci will wait until later in the year to face Vlismas, or if she'll look to find a new opponent for the Oct. 1 event. Ricci owns a 7-1-0 career MMA record and and is 2-1-0 since debuting in the UFC in June 2021.
Vlismas up next
BantamweightUFC
June 7, 2022
Ricci will fight Cheyanne Vlismas in a bantamweight fight at a UFC event on October 1, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Standing at 5-foot-1, Ricci is two inches shorter than Vlismas, though Ricci's 62.0 inch reach is just one inch shorter than Vlismas' 63.0 inch reach. Vlismas has not fought since December of 2021, while Ricci is fresh off her victory over Polyana Viana in May. Ricci will need to fight her way and take Vlismas to the ground. Ricci averages 3.95 takedown attempts per 15 minutes, landing on 45% of attempts. That, compared to Vlismas' 0.33 takedown attempts per 15 minutes and only landing on 33%, will be Ricci's best chance, though Vlismas successfully defends on 73% of takedown attempts.
Second straight victory
BantamweightUFC
May 21, 2022
Ricci defeated Polyana Viana via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was widely expected that Ricci's wrestling game would be the difference in this one, and that turned out to be exactly the case despite the fact she was the considerably smaller woman. Ricci put herself in couple dangerous situations on the mat in Round 1 against a noted mat specialist in Viana, but Polyana appeared to tire significantly as the bout progressed, and that allowed Ricci to gain top position and cruise to the decision. All told, Ricci landed five takedowns, good for 9:31 of control time. Ricci is severely undersized at 5-foot-1 and has little power, so it's imperative she find a way to generate more offense if she hopes of defeating better competition. The Brazilian has now picked up back-to-back unanimous decision wins on the heels of a knockout defeat to Manon Fiorot in her company debut last June.
