Mateusz Gamrot

Poland

Rebounds for first UFC win
LightweightUFC
April 10, 2021
Gamrot defeated Scott Holtzman via KO (punches) at 1:22 of Round 2 at UFC on ABC 2 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a resounding victory for Gamrot and a very strong performance on the heels of his very surprising split decision defeat to Guram Kutateladze in his company debut last August. A legitimate prospect with some power and a clue on the mat, Gamrot popped Holtzman with a one-two combo that turned his lights out. Referee Jason Herzog was right on top of it, but it was clear Holtzman was done. Gamrot has spent virtually his entire career fighting in Europe against below-average competition, so we will have to see how he fares inside the Octagon a few more times before getting a full read on his potential. In the meantime, he'll take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts.

Facing Holtzman in April
LightweightUFC
February 27, 2021
Gamrot will take on Scott Holtzman (head) at a UFC event on April 10, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot is coming off his first professional loss last October, when he fell to Guram Kutateladze via split-decision last October. Now, with a record of 17-1, he'll look to bounce back against Holtzman, who is coming off a loss of his own last August in which he suffered a left interior orbital fracture. Holtzman has worked his way back and will be ready to go come April.
Suffers first professional loss
LightweightUFC
October 17, 2020
Gamrot lost to Guram Kutateladze via split-decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot did his best to employ his peppering boxing style while mixing in his takedown game, but the unrelenting pressure of Kutateladze combined with hard body kicks worked to stifle Gamrot's offense at times. It's also noteworthy that Gamrot never seemed able to secure a position on the ground, with the opponent constantly working an active guard and getting back to his feet. Gamrot will more than likely find a home in the UFC, he simply ran into the better man on this night. He falls to 17-1 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

LightweightUFC
October 6, 2020
Gamrot will take on Guram Kutateladze on Oct. 17 after Magomed Mustafaev withdrew for undisclosed reasons, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.

Needs new debut opponent

Gamrot is in search of a new opponent for his scheduled Oct. 17 matchup following the withdrawal of Magomed Mustafaev, Denis Geyko of RT Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Gamrot seems to be fine, but the report suggests the 29-year-old has lost his opponent for unspecified reasons. Mustafaev was originally supposed to face Renato Moicano on the card, but Moicano pulled out and Gamrot was pegged as the replacement. It's now unclear when the 17-0 Polish fighter will get a chance to make his debut.
