Next contest lined up
Lemos will take on Zhang Weili for the UFC Strawweight Championship at UFC 292 on August 19 in Boston, Shaheed Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Lemos is coming off an upset victory over Marina Rodriguez, who she disposed of via TKO (punches) in the third round. She'll aim for her third straight victory against Zhang Weili. Weili has bounced back after consecutive losses to string together a pair of victories, most recently against Carla Esparza back in November to earn back her championship belt. For Lemos, it will be the first shot at championship gold of her UFC career, though she projects to enter as an underdog.

Upsets Marina Rodriguez in Vegas
Lemos defeated Marina Rodriguez via TKO (punches) at 0:54 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's the biggest victory of Lemos' career and it came in a huge spot. Entering as a +195 underdog, Amanda showed off her all-around arsenal. Neither woman accomplished much in Round 1 before Lemos leaned on her grappling in Round 2. She secured a takedown, racked up nearly three minutes of control time and nearly finished Rodriguez with a rear-naked choke. Lemos finally put Marina away early in Round 3 with a standing knockout. It was expected that Lemos' biggest advantage would be in the power department, and that proved to indeed be the case. It's impossible to argue with Amanda's 7-2 record with the UFC, but she's already 35 years of age and has no history of defeating high-level competition. It's probably a stretch to call Lemos a title contender despite this strong performance, but she certainly has a case for a title shot in the near future nonetheless.

Fight moved to Nov. 5
Lemos' upcoming fight with Marina Rodriguez has been rescheduled and will now take place at the UFC event on Nov. 5, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lemos last defeated Michelle Waterson via submission in July, but it appears she won't be returning to the Octagon until November now that her bout with Rodriguez has been moved off the UFC 280 card. It's unclear why the fight was rescheduled, but regardless, Lemos will look to improve to 7-2 with the UFC if she can earn a victory against Rodriguez in November.

Facing Marina Rodriguez in Abu Dhabi
Lemos is scheduled to face Marina Rodriguez in a strawweight bout at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 22, Raphael Marinho of Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lemos has already secured her next opponent after scoring a submission victory over Michelle Waterson at last week's event on Long Island. She'll be taking on a surging fighter in Rodriguez, who has won her past four bouts.

Taps out Michelle Waterson
Lemos defeated Michelle Waterson via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:48 of Round 2 at UFC on ABC 3 on Saturday on Long Island.
ANALYSIS
As far as the end result goes, it was a strong bounce-back performance from Lemos on the heels of her first-round submission loss to Jessica Andrade this past April. She was certainly the more powerful and effective striker in this bout, although she did give up a pair of takedowns to Waterson. Thankfully for Lemos, Michelle left her neck exposed following the second one, and that allowed Amanda to clamp on the choke which ended the fight. In what was nearly a disastrous scenario, referee Kevin MacDonald was out of position and didn't see Waterson tap. Lemos felt it and stopped, and ever the good sport that she is, Waterson admitted it and the fight ended. The top of the UFC's 115-pound female division is thin and there's certainly an opportunity for Lemos to fly up the rankings, but she's going to have to show she can defeat some better competition before she's considered a realistic threat. At the very least, she'll take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for the stoppage win here.
