Returns from long layoff in style
Suarez defeated Montana De La Rosa via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:51 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time in nearly four years, Suarez looked as good as ever. With her trademark wrestling on point as always, Tatiana landed a pair of takedowns -- one in each round -- good for 5:45 worth of control time. Suarez has dealt with a lot in recent years in terms of injury and illness, but her skill set is legitimately that of one of top female fighters in the sport. That said, she's now 32 years of age and has just nine professional fights under her belt following the long layoff, so it's imperative she fight as frequently as possible moving forward. Her ultimate ceiling is unchanged, however. In the meantime, she'll also take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, which was awarded to all six finishers on the evening.

Books return bout
Suarez (knee) is set to square off against Montana De La Rosa at UFC Vegas 70 on Feb. 25., Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After winning the Ultimate Fighter in 2016, Suarez knocked off four consecutive wins to kick off her UFC career including victories over Carla Esparza and Alexa Grasso. Unfortunately, neck and knee injuries have subsequently kept her sidelined for nearly four years. She will look to pick up where she left off when she takes on De La Rosa, who is coming off a loss to Maycee Barber via unanimous decision and is considered a submission specialist.

Looking to return in February
Suarez disclosed via Instagram that she intends to fight again in February of 2022, Danny Segura of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Suarez won The Ultimate Fighter back in 2016 and proceeded to go 4-0 to start her UFC career, including wins against former champion Carla Esparza and top contender Alexa Grasso. At the time, many thought she was well on her way to becoming UFC champion. Unfortunately, neck and knee injuries have sidelined her for nearly four years, and her recent comments are the first indication that she's planning a comeback in the near future. It's unclear if that will be at strawweight or flyweight, but even at 32 years old, Suarez has the makings of a fighter the UFC could fast track to a title shot.

Set for knee surgery
Suarez said Tuesday that she was forced to withdraw from her Sept. 25 flyweight matchup with Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 266 due to a "very bad knee injury" suffered during training, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports. The 30-year-old indicated she will require surgery to address the injury.
ANALYSIS
Suarez didn't get into specifics regarding the surgery, but she will almost certainly need at least a month of rehab -- and likely longer -- before receiving a clean bill of health. With that in mind, Suarez may have a tough time booking another fight before the end of 2021. Suarez owns a perfect 9-0-0 record for her career, including a 5-0 mark since signing with the UFC. A severe neck injury coupled with the knee issue has prevented her from returning to the Octagon since June 2019.
