Dropped from UFC
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 31, 2019
Trocoli (foot) was released from the UFC this week after news surfaced that he failed a pre-fight drug test administered before his July 9 fight against Kenneth Bergh, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Trocoli was able to pick up a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender series after submitting Bergh via neck crank, but his time in the UFC will end before a fight is even officially scheduled. When asked about the situation on Tuesday's telecast, UFC President Dana White relayed that "He shouldn't be using anywhere for any reason." On top of rehabbing a broken foot, Trocoli could now be subject to disciplinary actions from USADA. He tested positive for the substance nandrolone, which is qualified as an anabolic steroid. While his team intends to test his supplements for contamination, there's an uphill battle ahead for the 28-year-old combatant. It's unclear at this time if the UFC will give Bergh another shot on the Contender Series.
Breaks foot, but earns contract

Trocoli defeated Kenneth Bergh by submission (neck crank) at 3:57 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. He was one of five fighters to earn a UFC contract following the victory.
ANALYSIS
Trocoli caught a tough break early, as he ended up breaking his foot while throwing a body kick, according to MMAFighting.com. That made his win all the more impressive, as he failed to show signs of the injury before eventually mustering a takedown. Once the fight got to his mat, Trocoli displayed his grappling prowess by advancing his position in search of a rear-naked choke. While the choke didn't come to fruition, he was able to lock in a neck crank that finished the fight. Trocoli stands at 6-foot-5 with an 82-inch reach, making him one of the largest fighters in the light heavyweight division. His UFC debut will likely be put on hold, however, as he'll need time to recover from the foot injury sustained in the bout.
