Win overturned to draw
MiddleweightUFC
July 29, 2025
Abdul-Malik's win over Cody Brundage on June 14 has been overturned to a draw following Brundage's successful appeal with the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Abdul-Malik was initially awarded a victory after an accidental clash of heads led to his stoppage of Brundage, and after replay review, the referee sent the fight to the scorecards rather than call a no-contest. The end result was a unanimous technical decision in favor of Abdul-Malik, but apparently there exists a Georgia bylaw that says "no incomplete round will be scored." The commission applied that law, with the scorecards then landing at 19-19, 19-19 and 20-18 -- effectively a majority draw. Abdul-Malik falls from 9-0 to 8-0-1 due to the ruling.

Wins despite fluky finish
MiddleweightUFC
June 14, 2025
Abdul-Malik defeated Cody Brundage via unanimous technical decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Here was a rare example of the old "unanimous technical decision" ending. The second-largest favorite on the card at -900, Abdul-Malik was mostly underwhelming, just like his in his third-round knockout win over Nick Klein in February. This fight looked like it was heading to a close decision, at which point Abdul-Malik landed some massive blows in Round 3, eventually securing the stoppage. It was determined afterwards that an accidental clash of heads led to the start of the sequence, so the frame was scored until that point, with Mansur coming out on top. The 27-year-old is now 8-0 as a professional with eight stoppage wins, but there's clearly work to do, as we saw this evening.

Abdul-Malik will face off against Cody Brundage at UFC Atlanta on June 14, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Abdul-Malik, who is coming off a knockout win over Nick Klein in February, will face off against Cody Brundage in June. The 27-year-old Maryland native, who is 8-0 in his professional career and 2-0 with the UFC, will look to stay perfect in June.
Finds range after slow start

February 22, 2025
Abdul-Malik defeated Nick Klein via TKO (strikes) at 3:24 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Seattle in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
When one fighter is a -1300 favorite, you expect domination from start to finish. We didn't get that here from Abdul-Malik. Yes, the finish was impressive and his power is clearly legitimate, but he got dropped by a spinning elbow from Klein in Round 1 and was in all sorts of trouble. It shouldn't come as much of a shock given this was just the eighth professional fight for the 27-year-old Maryland native. Abdul-Malik's ceiling is massive, but expect some bumps in the road along the way.
New opponent in Seattle

January 26, 2025
Abdul-Malik will now face Nick Klein in a middleweight matchup at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Like his opponent, Abdul-Malik is also a product of Dana White's Contender Series, where he picked up a stoppage victory to earn a contract. While Klein is making his debut, Abdul-Malik does have one UFC fight under his belt, a bonus-winning victory over Dusko Todorovic last November. Abdul-Malik is a younger fighter who will also sport height and reach advantages.
Trocoli up next

Abdul-Malik is scheduled to Antonio Trocoli in a middleweight fight at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
2025 is on the verge of being Abdul-Malik's first full year as a UFC athlete, and he will look to begin the year by logging his second consecutive win. He debuted with a first-round TKO to Dusko Todorovic.
